User engagement is detected and used to control operation of a computing device. User engagement is detected by a sensor such as a camera that identifies if a user's face is oriented towards a display device. If the user is not facing the display device, the sensor determines that the user is unengaged. The computing device is thus able to perform a power-saving operation, such as dimming the display device, when the user is unengaged. The computing device includes an API that abstracts sensor data into a user engagement signal indicating that the user is either engaged or unengaged. The OS and applications running on the computing device act on the user engagement signal provided by the API without communicating directly with the sensor. The user engagement signal may be provided as an input to a state machine.

The present invention relates to a bicycle parking lock apparatus adapted for locking a crank of the bicycle. The apparatus includes a primary lock part and a secondary lock part movable reciprocatingly relative to the primary lock part. The primary lock part defines a recess adapted to receive the crank. The recess is provided with a sidewall such that when the crank is received in the recess, an outboard side of the crank at a first end thereof is shielded by the sidewall. The secondary lock part is adapted to hold the crank in position in cooperation with the primary lock part.

Bicycle parking lock apparatus and method for operating same

The present invention discloses a power-saving circuit applied in a portable electronic device, which includes a voltage input module for outputting a first enable signal after receiving an external voltage, a power switch for being operated by a user to output a second enable signal and a start signal, a switching module electrically coupled to the voltage input module and the power switch for selectively receiving the first and second enable signals to determine whether or not to turn off the switching module, and a voltage conversion module electrically coupled to the switching module for receiving one of the external voltage and a battery voltage from the voltage input module when the switching module is closed. Thus, the battery voltage cannot be sent to the portable electronic device when the switching module is opened.

Power-saving circuit and method thereof

The invention is to provide a basic input/output system updating method that divides a memory in an electronic device into a system program area and a boot program area, wherein a basic input/out system (BIOS) program is stored in the said system program area and an initialization sequence is stored in the boot program area. When the initialization sequence in the said system program area is destroyed and the BIOS program is lost, the invention enables a user to toggle a switch to a closed position to connect the said microprocessor to the said boot program area to read the initialization sequence stored therein.

The invention provides an input/output (I/O) port assembly of a notebook computer connectable to a monitor or a television (TV), which comprises an image processor, an I/O port, and a signal transmission circuit interconnected between the image processor and the I/O port. When I/O port of the computer is coupled to monitor or TV, signal transmission circuit generates different signal voltage states. As such, image processor can output a correct signal to the coupled monitor or TV based on a change of the signal voltage states. With this, the computer is connectable to monitor or TV via a single I/O port and an adapter connected between the I/O port and monitor or TV.

A shoe includes an outsole which has a flat tread portion and a peripheral member that extends upwardly from the periphery of the tread portion. The peripheral member has an upper section and a lower section. The tread portion and the lower section of the peripheral member cooperatively define a receptacle. A resilient cushioning wedge is adapted to be received in the receptacle and has an upper base member with a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side is integrally formed with a plurality of downwardly extending cushioning elements which have free ends glued to the tread portion. The base member has a periphery glued to the peripheral member. An insole is glued to the top side of the cushioning wedge. The shoe further includes a vamp which has a bottom end sewed to the insole and a bottom periphery sewed to the upper section of the peripheral member.
