A computing device receives a notification from a tracking device that the tracking device has entered a gripped state in which a user has securely gripped the tracking device with a hand of the user. The computing device responsively receives orientation data from the tracking device indicative of an orientation of the tracking device in a tracking device space. The computing device determines an orientation of the hand of the user in a hand tracking space from captured image data of the hand of the user and the tracking device. The computing device generates a transformation matrix to anchor the tracking device space to the hand tracking space. The tracking device resultantly enters an anchored state.

In an example in accordance with the present disclosure, an extended reality system is described. The extended reality system includes an imaging system to present virtual objects to a user. The extended reality system also includes a machine vision tracking system. The machine vision tracking system includes a camera to capture images of a user's hand a tool grasped in the user's hand. The machine vision tracking system also includes a processor. The processor 1) tracks a position and orientation of the user's hand in physical space, 2) identifies the tool grasped in the user's hand, and 3) tracks a position and orientation of the tool in physical space. The extended reality system also includes an XR controller to manipulate the XR environment based on the position and orientation of the tool and the position and orientation of the hand.

Machine vision hand and tool tracking

In an example in accordance with the present disclosure, an augmented reality (AR) display device is described. The AR display device includes a frame to be worn on a head of a user and a lens disposed within the frame. A user is to view a physical scene through the lens. The lens includes multiple regions. Each region is individually addressable and has a tint value that is individually adjustable. The AR display device also includes an input to receive virtual content to be presented on the lens and an imaging system to present the virtual content on the lens. The AR display device also includes a controller which 1) identifies a first region of the lens on which the virtual content is to be presented and 2) selectively adjusts a tint of the first region while suppressing a tint adjustment to a second region of the transparent lens.

In an example in accordance with the present disclosure, a system is described that includes a hub for routing data traffic between a first computing device and a second computing device. A detection device of the system detects a communication protocol between the computing devices. A switch of the system routes traffic directly between the computing devices when a first communication protocol is detected. When a second communication protocol is detected, the switch re-routes traffic of the first type from the first computing device back to the hub to convert the traffic of the first type to a second type and routes converted traffic directly to the second computing device.

In an example in accordance with the present disclosure, an input movement tracking device is described. The input movement tracking device comprises a tracking device housing and a connector to mechanically attach the tracking device housing to an input device. The input movement tracking device also includes an electrical connector to receive input from the input device to be transmitted to a host computing device. A tracking system disposed within the tracking device housing tracks a position and orientation of the tracking device housing and the input device in physical space and a transceiver disposed within the tracking device housing communicates with the host computing device.

Structured light is projected onto an object, and an image of the object as illuminated by the projected structured light is captured. Reference object points are identified within the captured image, and the structured light projected onto the object is modified based on the identified reference object points. An additional image of the object as illuminated by the modified projected structured light is captured, and additional reference object points are identified within the captured additional image.

An adaptable connector, a non-standard PCIe module, and a computer readable medium are disclosed. The adaptable connector for a PCIe interface allows for multiple standard PCIe modules and non-standard PCIe modules at different times An external I/O port has a set of non-PCIe I/O signal lanes coupled to the adaptable connector in lieu of a set of root port host PCIe signal lanes when a non-standard PCIe module is mated to the adaptable connector.
