A multi-ply radiation dosage indicator, and method of manufacture, is disclosed including a first ply having visible indicia thereon and a second ply having a radiation sensitive zone overlying the indicia of the first ply. The radiation sensitive zone is capable of changing opacity in response to exposure to a radiation dosage exceeding a predetermined threshold so as to change the visibility of the indicia thereby providing an indication as to whether the indicator has become irradiated. An optical filter ply may be provided overlying the indicia, and the indicator also may be provided with a transparent protective outer ply. A pressure sensitive adhesive ply having a removable release sheet is employed for attaching the indicator to a substrate.

A device for supplying a film which possesses an electrically conductive layer which can be grounded is described which is composed of a spool mountable on a rotatable grounded spindle; retaining means for securing the trailing edge of an electrically conductive film wound on the spool; means for electrically connecting the spool to the grounded spindle and contact means mounted on the trailing edge of the film so as to maintain electrical contact between the conductive layer of the film and the conductive means during unwinding of the film from the spool. The device allows the continuous unwinding of the spool while maintaining a simultaneous ground connection between the conductive layer of the spool and a ground.

The process for improving radiant energy sensitivity of a film base coated with a dispersion of a normally crystalline polyacetylenic compound in a non-solvating liquid which is dried on the film surface; said polyacetylenic compound preferably having at least two conjugated acetylenic linkages and containing from 20 to 60 carbon atoms. The process comprises dispersing said normally crystalline polyacetylenic compound in the non-solvating liquid to a concentration of from about 2 to about 50% polyacetylene crystalline solids and ageing said dispersion by (a) storing at a temperature of between about 0.degree. C. and about 12.degree. C. for a period of from about 1 to about 30 days or (b) freezing said dispersion at a temperature between about -78.degree. C. and about -1.degree. C. for a period of from about 1 to about 75 hours or (c) a combination of the above ageing techniques any or all of which are completed before drying said dispersion on a substrate.

A process for providing a direct optical readout of a pattern or collection of data in a plurality of distincitive colors on a dielectric film capable of receiving information by exposure to an electron beam imaging source, which process comprises subjecting said film to a series of separate exposures from an electron beam source, each exposure representing a portion of the overall pattern or collecton of data to be transmitted; treating said film after each exposure intended to distinguish a portion of the overall information with a toner of a distinctive color which combination of colors may be selected for maximum definition and contrast; and separately drying each of said toners on said film before re-exposing said film to said electron beam source for receipt of an additional portion of the pattern or information to be transmitted. The above procedure of exposure, toning and drying may be repeated as many times as required until all of the information of the desired pattern has been transmitted to the film and the film displays the complete information of the imaged pattern in a visual multi-colored format of high resolution, clarity and contrast. The invention also relates to the multicolored dielectric film product of the process.
