An apparatus is disclosed for forming an insulated rotor conductor by bonding an insulating material onto a single side of a flat electrical conductor under controlled heat and mechanical pressure. The rotor conductor is suitable for assembly into the rotor assembly of a rotating electrical machine such as an alternating current generator. The apparatus includes modules to facilitate easy relocation within a manufacturing environment and to make efficient use of available manufacturing space. A corresponding method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for forming insulated rotor conductors

A mechanical interface for relieving stress between an outer layer and an inner insulating layer in a layered insulating tape structure surrounding an electrical conductor. The interface tape includes a porous non-woven carrier having opposing sides including a release region located at a first side and a non-release region located at an opposite second side. The release region is treated with a release material for substantially inhibiting adhesion between the first side and an adjacent outer surface. The non-release region is untreated by the release material for substantially facilitating adhesion between the second side and an adjacent inner surface.

Electrical insulation tape with controlled bonding and resin impregnation properties

An electrical insulation tape that has a first and second carrier layer, and a dielectric thermally conductive, electrically insulative filler layer () that has mica particles/flakelets (), filler particles () and a binder resin (), disposed between the first and second carrier layers. The dielectric filler layer has mica flakelets (), filler particles () and a binder resin. The ratio of mica flakelets to filler particles is at least 1:1 by volume, and the percentage of binder resin in the dielectric filler layer is 35-50% by volume. The first and second carrier layers are impregnated with a second resin.

High thermal conductivity dielectric tape

A high dielectric sheet material comprises a monolayer of spaced high dielectric chips (e.g., ceramic single layer capacitor or SLC chips) which have been located or placed within spaced openings or windows formed in a dielectric spacer sheet. Top and bottom conductive sheets, preferably metallic foil sheets, are adhesively placed in intimate mechanical and electrical contact with the respective top and bottom external surfaces of the chips and dielectric spacer sheet. An adhesive is interposed between the metallic foil sheets and the dielectric spacer sheet (filled with high dielectric chips) such that the adhesive material holds the substrate together without interfering with electrical contact between the high dielectric chips and top and bottom foil sheets. This is preferably accomplished through the use of roughened surfaces formed on both the foil sheets and external high dielectric chips. The resultant high dielectric sheet material of this invention is drillable, platable, printable, etchable, laminable and highly reliable. In addition, this high dielectric sheet material may be used in a variety of electronic applications including as a component in the manufacture of multilayer circuit boards, capacitive elements and bus bars.

High dielectric constant sheet material

A paint shield for masking a door or window frame, or painting an adjacent wall and a method for its use are disclosed. The paint shield includes a substantially planar, rectangular portion of sheet like material. A substantially planar blade portion extends at right angles to the rectangular portion and has a width greater than or equal to the thickness of the frame to be masked. The blade portion terminates in a straight edge. A handle is affixed to the rectangular portion and is used to position the rectangular over the frame with the straight edge of the blade portion positioned against the wall at the intersection between the wall and the frame.
