A method for auto-calibration of a sorter is described. The method includes transmitting, by a carrier transmit board of a sorter, a short discharge command to a first section of the sorter. The short discharge command can be generated based on a first clock offset. Further, the method includes receiving at the carrier transmit board a status message indicative of a status of a first motor control board associated with the first section of the sorter. Furthermore, in response to the status message indicating that the first motor control did not receive the short discharge command, the method includes modifying the first clock offset to a second clock offset and retransmitting the short discharge command based on a second clock offset. If the first motor control receives the short discharge command, the method includes configuring a sorter control system based on the first clock offset.

Configuration of a sorter system based on clock cycles

Various embodiments are directed to cart grounding devices for conveyor assemblies and methods of using the same. In various embodiments, a cart grounding device for a conveyor assembly may comprise a frame engagement element configured for attachment to at least a portion of a conveyor assembly; an arm assembly comprising an arm element hingedly connected relative to the frame engagement element; and a cart interface component configured to physically engage a connected plurality of conveyor carts of the conveyor assembly to provide a ground path from the conveyor carts to a ground, the cart interface component comprising one or more grounding wheels configured to physically contact the conveyor carts and rotate about a respective central wheel axle based on the physical contact with the conveyor carts, wherein the arm assembly defines a biased configuration that biases the cart interface component in a direction towards the conveyor carts.

Cart grounding device for a conveyor assembly

The present disclosure relates to a drive belt tensioning system that comprises drive assembly detachably attached with mounting bracket. The drive assembly comprises assembly plate, driving mechanism rigidly affixed to the assembly plate, and driving pulley shaft protruding through assembly plate. First axis of rotation of the driving mechanism perpendicular to the assembly plate defines center of rotation of the drive assembly. The driving pulley shaft is positioned at first radial distance from the center of rotation of the drive assembly. The mounting bracket defines shaft aperture sized to receive the driving mechanism and radial driving pulley slot that extending circumferentially around a portion of the shaft aperture and sized to receive the driving pulley shaft. An application of torque causes arcuate motion of the driving pulley shaft in the radial driving pulley slot such that distance between the driven pulley and the driving pulley is altered.

Method and system for tensioning a drive belt

Various embodiments described herein, relates to a sortation conveyer system comprising a cart coupling assembly for coupling two adjacent carts. The cart coupling assembly includes a coupling disc having: (a) a control slot, (b) a bearing slot, and (c) one or more arcuately shaped mounting slots. The coupling disc is mounted on a cart such that, upon rotation of the coupling disc, a control slot cavity defined by the control slot slid ably moves about a position register screw along the control slot cavity and a cavity defined by a respective mounting slot slid ably moves relative to a respective mounting pin received in the mounting slot.

Cart coupling assembly

A controller of a material handling system performs a method of dynamic spacing on a sortation conveyor by predicting fullness of divert destinations. Required tray spacing between inducted articles destined for the same divert destination can be reduced when the divert destination is calculated to have sufficient capacity. Fewer discharge commands need to be ignored due to insufficient tray spacing. The material handling systems can achieve higher throughput by having fewer articles that cannot be discharged to an assigned destination.

The discharge accuracy of unit sortation is improved by making real time adjustments to the discharge timing of the carrier based on the determined actual position of each article on respective carriers. The adjustments are applied at the time the discharge command is given.

Dynamic discharge compensation for a sortation system

A detection system has a first laser that directs a first laser trace laterally across a surface of a conveyor from an acute angle. A second laser directs a second laser trace laterally across the surface of the conveyor, in spaced apart alignment with the first laser trace, from an acute angle. A camera images from above a field of view that encompasses at least a portion of the first and second laser traces. An image processing system detects a presence or absence of portions of the first and second laser traces, and determines a feature of one of the conveyor and an article inducted onto the conveyor based upon the detecting of the presence or absence.
