In various example embodiments, a system and method for adjusting a user interface according to a cognitive mode is disclosed. In one example embodiment, a method includes receiving a plurality of user events based on a user interacting with a system, determining a cognitive operating mode of the user based on the user events, with the cognitive operating mode selected from a predefined set of cognitive operating modes, and modifying a user interface element according to the cognitive operating mode of the user.

Adjusting an interface based on a cognitive mode

An item page may be displayed on a client device in response to a request to view an item page from the client device. They item page may include a description of the item. An icon may be generated and the icon may be displayed within a portion of the displayed item page at an icon location. A plurality of selectable actions each being performable with respect to the item described by the item page may be generated and displayed in response to an initial gesture being performed at the icon location for at least a pre-defined threshold duration. Lastly, the plurality of selectable actions may be displayed around the generated icon and within a pre-defined distance from the icon location of the generated icon.

The methods and systems are for receiving a request from a mobile device, the request including an indication of a swiping motion that is applied across a touch-sensitive screen on the mobile device, the touch sensitive screen displaying search results including a first plurality of data items. The methods and systems are for retrieving a first refinement and a first value from a database entry. The methods and systems are for filtering the search results to generate refined search results including a second plurality of data items that are filtered based on the first refinement and the first value. The methods and systems are for communicating a user interface, over the network, to the mobile device, the communicating being responsive to the receiving the request, the user interface including the second plurality of data items for display on the mobile device.

Methods and systems to refine search results were described. The system communicates a first user interface to a mobile device that includes search results that include data items. The system receives a first request from the mobile device that includes an indication of at least one swiping motion that is applied across a touch-sensitive screen on the mobile device. The mobile device is associated with a previously selected refinement and corresponding value. The system filters the search results. The refined search results include a second plurality of data items based on the previously selected refinement and the corresponding value. The system generates a second user interface that includes the refined search results. The system communicates the second user interface, over the network, to the mobile device. The second user interface includes the refined search results that include the second plurality of data items to display on the mobile device.

Methods and systems to refine search information

Systems and methods of personalized actionable notifications are disclosed. In some example embodiments, event information indicating an event for an item is received, a determination is made to provide a notification of the event to the user based on the event information and user activity information for the user, the notification is generated based on the determination, and the generated notification is caused to be displayed on a screen of the computing device via an application on a computing device of the user without causing the computing device to leave a context of content being displayed on the computing device prior to the notification being displayed on the computing device, the application being independent of the context, the notification overlaying the content, and the notification further comprising at least one user interface element configured to enable the user to request an action to be performed for the item.
