The present disclosure relates to a vacuum dewatering apparatus comprising a vacuum box disposed opposite of a steam box where the steam box comprises a bottom plate having a substantially linear portion and a curvilinear portion. A plurality of apertures are disposed along at least a portion of the curvilinear portion to permit the transmission of steam. In a preferred embodiment, the curvilinear portion is adjacent to the trailing edge and the linear portion is adjacent to the leading edge of the apertured bottom plate. Further, at least a portion of the apertures are aligned opposite the vacuum box which acts to remove the steam. The vacuum dewatering apparatus of the present invention enables the use of high levels of steam improving vacuum dewatering and improving drying efficiency.

Fibrous web dewatering apparatus and method

Unlike conventional through-air drying processes the instant invention utilizes at least two through-air driers where the first dyer is at least partially encircled by a first through-air drying fabric and the second dyer is at least partially encircled by a second through-air drying fabric. By providing each through-air dryer with its own fabric the overall drying performance may be increased. Additionally, in certain embodiments, the first and second fabrics may be different to optimize both the drying performance and/or tissue product properties.

Through-air drying apparatus and methods of manufacture

The invention relates to methods and an apparatus useful to installing and removing endless belts in a conveyor system and more preferably continuous fabrics, belts, felts and webs used in the papermaking process. According to the present invention a pair of guide rolls to move a first continuous fabric from a first fabric position to a second fabric position and a second fabric from the second fabric position to the first fabric position, passing the fabrics over one another as the position of the fabrics are exchanged. The movement of the first and second fabrics may be done at the same time so as to further enhance the efficiency of changing fabrics.

Methods of making two-sided cloth like webs

Absorbent paper products, such as paper towels, are disclosed which have a combination of high absorbent capacity and a moderate to low rate of absorbency for hand protection. These properties can be produced, for example, using a throughdried basesheet, such as an uncreped throughdried sheet, in which at least one surface of which has been printed with a patterned moisture barrier coating and creped. The presence of the moisture barrier coating on the surface retards the absorbent rate for that side of the sheet while allowing a significant amount of liquid to pass through to the center of the sheet.

The improved paper is characterized as having two regions; one is a network (or open grid) region and the other is a plurality of domes. A process and system for applying an adhesive to a core during the production of rolled paper products is disclosed. The system of the present invention is generally directed to the use of pumping devices that meter out constant volumetric amounts of an adhesive onto a core through a plurality of adhesive applicators simultaneously. The systems includes, for instance, a positive displacement pump system in which a fluid at substantially constant pressure is fed to a pumping device for dispensing the adhesive to a plurality of adhesive applicators in constant volumetric amounts.
