A system for controlling a tilt-trim position of a propulsion device on a marine vessel includes a user input device generating a command to rotate the propulsion device to a desired tilt-trim position, a position sensor sensing a current tilt-trim position of the propulsion device, a control module receiving the user command and the current tilt-trim position, and a tilt-trim actuator rotating the propulsion device. In response to determining that the propulsion device's engine is not running, the control module rotates the propulsion device until the desired tilt-trim position is achieved, and starts the engine in response to determining that the current tilt-trim position does not exceed a threshold. In response to determining that the engine is running, the control module determines whether a vessel and/or engine speed condition is met, and if so, rotates the propulsion device about the tilt-trim axis until the desired tilt-trim position is achieved.

System and method for controlling a tilt-trim position of a marine propulsion device

In a method of controlling a dual fuel engine in which power in the form of a first gaseous fuel and in the form of a self-igniting second fuel is fed to at least one combustion chamber, a knock signal representative of the combustion chamber is detected. When a knock signal indicating a knock of at least a first intensity is detected, the amount of first fuel fed to the combustion chamber of the engine is increased, the increased introduction of power into the combustion chamber caused by the increase in the amount of first fuel being compensated by a corresponding reduction in the power contribution of the second fuel. When a knock signal indicating a knock of at least a second intensity greater than the first intensity is detected, the amount of first fuel is reduced.

Method of controlling a dual fuel engine

A system includes a controller configured to receive noise signals acquired by at least two knock sensors of a plurality of knock sensors coupled to a reciprocating device. Each noise signal represents a noise signature of the reciprocating device detected at a respective knock sensor. The controller is also configured to determine a location of a coincident noise within the reciprocating device based at least on the received noise signals.

The processor is configured to receive a first signal from a first sensor indicative of a first exhaust measurement, wherein the first sensor is disposed at a catalytic converter system inlet of a catalytic converter system. The processor is further configured to derive one or more of an estimated length, estimated volume, or estimated transport delay of an exhaust conduit based on the first signal, wherein a first end of the exhaust conduit is connected to an engine outlet of a engine, and a second end of the exhaust conduit is connected to the catalytic converter system inlet; and to apply the one or more of estimated length, estimated volume, or estimated transport delay of the exhaust conduit during control of the engine.

Systems and methods for using transport time to estimate engine aftertreatment system characteristics

A system includes a reciprocating engine having a cylinder liner and a piston disposed within the cylinder liner. The cylinder liner includes an inner wall and extends around a cavity. The inner wall includes a first axial end, a second axial end, a piston travel portion, and a top portion. The top portion is nearer to the first axial end of the cylinder liner than to the second axial end of the cylinder liner. The top portion has a first surface finish with a first roughness average (Ra) greater than approximately 2 &#x3bc;m and a total waviness (Wt) less than approximately 0.1 mm. The piston is configured to move in a reciprocating manner within the cylinder liner. The piston includes a top land configured to be radially opposite the top portion of the inner wall of the cylinder liner when the piston is at a top dead center position.
