A system utilizing cascading heat pump circuits (HPCs) is employed to efficiently transfer heat from low temperature reservoirs to high temperature reservoirs. The system of cascading (e.g., multistage) HPCs include at least two HPCs that are in thermal communication. The first HPC uses a first refrigerant and is configured to raise a first cold operating temperature to a first hot operating temperature. The second HPC uses a second refrigerant and is configured to raise a second cold operating temperature to a second hot operating temperature. The second HPC is in thermal communication with the first HPC through a thermal exchange block, which allows the transfer of heat between the HPCs and causes the first hot temperature to be equilibrated with the second cold temperature. The cascading HPC system also includes a system controller that is configured to optimize the coefficient of performance (COP) of the cascading HPC system.

An gas-driven generator system for generating electric power from movement of a working liquid. The system includes a gas-driven generator that includes a liquid turbine system fluidically interposed between the lower end of an elongated gravitational distribution conduit and the lower ends of plural elongated buoyancy conduits. A heavy working liquid flows from the upper ends of the buoyancy conduits and is fed into the upper end of the elongated gravitational distribution conduit. Working liquid flows down the elongated gravitational distribution conduit to actuate the liquid turbine system. An injection of refrigerant gas into the working liquid in the plural elongated buoyancy conduits induces upward flow of the working liquid. The system includes a solar thermal heating system fluidically coupled to heat exchangers that transfer heat collected by the solar thermal heating system to the working liquid through a thermal transfer fluid circuit.

A gaseous compression system for compressing a gas from an initial pressure to an exit pressure with a first, blower compression bank and a second, mechanical compression bank. Each compression bank has plural stages of gaseous compression with a gaseous fluid compressor and a heat pump intercooler. The heat pump intercooler comprises a cascading heat pump intercooler with a high temperature section, a medium temperature section, and a low temperature section, each temperature section with an intercooler core. Each stage of the blower compression bank has a high-pressure blower, and each stage of the mechanical compressor bank has a mechanical compressor. A final stage of gaseous compression is without a heat pump intercooler. Gas compressed by the gaseous fluid compression system can be injected into a gas-driven generator to generate electric power from movement of a working fluid induced by injection of the compressed gas.

An air-driven generator for generating electric power from movement of a working fluid. Upper ends of buoyancy conduits are in fluidic communication with an upper end of a gravitational distribution conduit, and a lower end of the gravitational distribution conduit is in fluidic communication with lower ends of the buoyancy conduits. An air injection system injects air into the buoyancy conduits. A closed fluid loop is formed with working fluid flowing from the gravitational distribution conduit driving a fluid turbine system that is interposed between the lower ends of the gravitational distribution conduit and the buoyancy conduits. Flow of working fluid can be induced by an injection of air into working fluid disposed in the buoyancy conduits to achieve a generation of power by actuation of the fluid turbine system. An upper chamber can remove entrained air. A Rankin Cycle Generator can receive and be actuated by exhausted air.

A plurality of geodesic truss segments (A-H) form the base and upper trusses () to produce a strong, light-weight wind generator () that is easily assembled on-site.

Open-flow vertical wind generator

A method for bonding a polymer layer to an outlet plate for an inkjet print head has been developed that enables the polymer layer to be attached to the outlet plate with little or no bowing of the polymer layer. The method includes aligning recesses in a bonding plate with channels in an outlet plate, interposing a polymer layer between the bonding plate and the outlet plate, and pressing the bonding plate against the polymer layer to bond the polymer layer to the outlet plate.
