A sprinkler assembly with a nutating distribution plate can improve even distribution of water. The distribution plate can tilt and/or translate upon water impinging the distribution plate to disperse water in different directions. The sprinkler assembly can have a deflector assembly including the distribution plate, a spindle supported by a bearing, and a contact portion downstream of the distribution plate to contact a housing that limits a range of movement of the distribution plate. The sprinkler assembly can be disassembled and reassembled with minimal tools and effort for servicing.

A sprinkler assembly with a nutating distribution plate can improve even distribution of water. A wheeled line irrigation system has a water main supported on a plurality of towers and has a truss built of truss rods attached to the water main to support a plurality of drop hoses connected to the water main over the trusses for distribution of irrigation water from an irrigation system to the crops below. A truss rod hose sling is attached to a truss rod and to a hose for holding the hose to the truss rod to guide the hose over the truss rod.

A pressure regulator apparatus has a pressure regulator mechanism which includes first and second housing portions, each made of substantially rigid material, such as a PVC polymer, and each housing portion having a passageway therethrough. One of the housing portions has a plurality of niches formed therein while a second housing portion has a plurality of raised wedged members formed thereon so that the pressure regulator mechanism can be placed in the two housings which can be driven together to drive the housing wedge members of one portion of the housing into the niches of the other portion of the housing. Since both housings have a cylindrical portion, the wedge members are sized to extend above the inner lip of the other housing portion to thereby require a forced expansion of the substantially rigid housing portion to drive the wedge members into the locking niches in the other housing member which simultaneously locks the pressure regulator mechanism into position in the housing.

Sprinkler dispersion plate connector

A flexible winding hose coupling apparatus is provided which allows for the rapid coupling of a flexible hose thereinto. The coupling can then be attached to another hose or to a pipe fitting or tap. The coupling has first and second coupling members with the first coupling member having a hollow tapered bore therein and the second coupling member loosely fitting or floating in the bore of the first coupling member. The first coupling member has an annular ledge formed in the bore to act as a stop for the second coupling member and has a plurality of annular barbs formed along the bore walls. The second coupling member is located in the first and has an external taper thereon with a plurality of external annular barbs therearound so that sliding a flexible hose over the second coupling member expands the end of the hose along the taper and over the barbs, driving the end of the hose towards the inside of the first coupling member bore walls. The enlarged hose seals when an internal hydraulic pressure is applied thereto or with a reverse pull on the hose, once the hose is pushed over the second coupling member, by the second coupling member and hose thereon sliding toward the tapered barbed internal wall of the first coupling.

Flexible hose coupling

An irrigation spray nozzle apparatus has a base member for attachment to a water line, which has a passageway therethrough. A nozzle is attached to the base member to control water flow and to direct water from the outlet of the passageway through the base towards a water deflector pad removably attached to a water deflector pad support to spray water passing from the nozzle. At least one arm is attached to the base and to the water deflector pad in position in line with the outlet of the nozzle. The water deflector pad can be removed and a hose attached through a passageway through the pad support or to an extension on the pad support itself, to convert the spray nozzle to an irrigation hose discharge device.

Interchangeably connectable sprinkler deflector and hose

A fluid pressure regulator for adjusting the pressure of fluid passing through a pipe is provided for use with irrigation sprinklers or the like. The pressure regulator has a housing having a passageway therethrough, which has a throttling stem slidably mounted in the housing passageway and having a passageway therethrough. A compression spring is mounted between the throttling stem and the housing to bias the throttling stem relative to the housing. A throttling stem seat is attached in the passageway through the housing and has a passageway therethrough and has the end of a throttling member extending thereinto for adjusting the passageway through the throttling member seat so that fluid pressure is adjusted between the input and output of the fluid pressure regulator. A throttling stem dampening member or pressure controller is mounted in the passageway to dampen oscillations in the throttling stem by limiting access of fluid to an annular chamber formed by the pressure controller, upper housing, throttling stem and diaphragm, to thereby dampen variations in fluid pressure against one end of the throttling stem.

Irrigation spray nozzle

A spray nozzle apparatus and a method of making a spray nozzle in which a variety of nozzle sizes can be made using several common components. The nozzle head has a threaded base for attachment to a water line which base has an opening passing therethrough for mounting removable nozzle inserts therein with retainer rings. A water-deflecting portion is removably mounted to the base so that a curved portion thereon will deflect water at a predetermined angle. The curved deflector is attached to the base with a single screw and a pair of positioning studs.

A rotatable head sprinkler apparatus incorporates a lower bearing seal between a swivel device for connection to a source of water under pressure, and a spindle connected through said swivel device to a self-powered rotary sprinkler head of the type used for irrigation. A bearing washer is formed into the swivel device and forms a coupling for a protective seal which prevents the entry of trash, or the like, into the area between the seal and the wear washer.
