A rolling mill, in particular a rolling mill having more than one mill stand, includes at least two rolls which are mounted in a roll bearing in a mill stand to absorb rolling forces, movers for moving at least one roll relative to the mill stand as well as determining devices for determining the roll pass, the determining device having a pass reference and a spatial reference as well as a measuring device for measuring the relative position between the pass reference and the spatial reference. At least one of the pass reference and the spatial reference is arranged peripherally in relation to the power flow occurring between the roll and the mill stand.

Rolling mill and rolling method

A method for determining the rolling or guiding gap of the roll stands or guide stands in a multi-stand rolling mill positions a comparison scale at at least one stand, preferably at the first and the last stand, and subsequently the rolling or guiding gap of the respective stand is determined. In this method, a camera is arranged at one of the input or output sides and a transmitter for a reference device, a reference transducer and/or a reference scale is arranged at the other of the input or output sides before the comparison scale is positioned, such that adjustment operations at the camera can subsequently be avoided.

Rolling mill, and device and method for determining the rolling or guiding gap of the roll stands or guide stands in a multi-stand rolling mill

Disclosed is a rolling mill, in particular a rolling mill having more than one mill stand, comprising at least two rolls () which are mounted in a roll bearing in a mill stand to absorb rolling forces, further comprising means () for moving at least one roll relative to the mill stand as well as means () for determining the roll pass, the determining means having a pass reference () and a spatial reference () as well as means () for measuring the relative position between the pass reference and the spatial reference. In order to create a rolling mill that provides as accurate information as possible about the roll pass, the pass reference and/or the spatial reference is/are arranged peripherally in relation to the power flow occurring between the roll and the mill stand.

An apparatus for making a cold-pilger-rolled tube has two grooved pilger rolls rotatable about respective axes to compress a workpiece moving in a travel direction against a mandrel extending in the direction between a nip formed between the rolls and anchored upstream of the nip in a thrust block. Workpiece thickness is adjusted on the fly by measuring a wall thickness of the workpiece downstream in the direction from the roll as the workpiece passes through the nip and for displacing the thrust block and mandrel in to the travel direction as the workpiece passes through the nip in accordance with the measured wall thickness.
