A printer architecture that enables a printer (or other media processing device) with an elongate foot print to be configured with media input and operator controls oriented at either a narrow end or a wide side thereof, that surface becoming the 'front' of the unit. Controls and/or display(s) are mounted such that either the end or side orientation can be accommodated. The media input tray includes a separate assembly so that selection of the tray with access to end or side complements the user control panel in establishing the front of the machine. The combination of control/display mounting and oriented media tray structure integration with the print engine to establish which of the printer surfaces is considered the front allows for multiple orientations of the printer and greater flexibility to the customer.

Printer architecture enabling narrow or wide front facing orientation

A system and process enable a device to adjust the duration of various power modes based on usage of the device. The process includes operating a device at a fully operational power level, counting a first wait time, modifying a first wait time modifier in response to detection of image generating device use prior to expiration of the first wait time, and reducing power consumption from the fully operational level to a low power level in response to expiration of the first wait time.

Disclosed is a phase change ink composition including an ink carrier and a colorant, said ink being suitable for use in an indirect printing process wherein the ink is jetted from a printhead onto a heated intermediate transfer member and subsequently transferred from the intermediate transfer member to a final recording substrate, wherein: (a) the ink exhibits the characteristic of being jetted from the printhead onto the intermediate transfer member when the ink at a temperature of about 125&#xb0; C. or lower; (b) the ink exhibits the characteristic of being jetted without purging from a printer maintained at a standby temperature of about 100&#xb0; C. or lower; and (c) the ink has a cohesive failure temperature of at least about 56&#xb0; C.
