Disclosed are network managed volumes that enable simplified and more efficient use of information technology assets by allocating physical disk drives as needed. A pool of storage can be defined and populated with physical disks that are accessible in a storage area network. Virtual volumes are created from the storage pool, with each virtual volume being separately allocable to a host device (e.g., client, application server, etc.). Thus, host devices that have been allocated these virtual volumes perceive ownership of the entire volume, without requiring a present allocation of physical storage space having the same characteristics, but with seamless introduction of physical resources as needed.

A system for facilitating payment of accounts payables from a foreign financial institution for a customer of a domestic financial institution, software, and methods are provided. The system includes a first financial institution computer positioned at a domestic financial institution site to define a domestic financial institution server, having memory associated therewith, and foreign exchange analyzing software stored in the memory of the domestic financial institution server to analyze a foreign exchange transaction. The system also includes an area network in communication with the server, and a second customer computer in communication with the area network, positioned remote from the server at a customer site, and positioned to transmit an accounts payable batch data file having a plurality of accounts payable to the foreign exchange analyzing software stored on the server.

A composition and its use for local percutaneous delivery of a drug, in particular a muscle relaxant, more particularly cyclobenzaprine present in an amount of about 1 to about 10% by weight of the composition in an organogel cream are disclosed. The composition is applied directly to the skin over accessible muscles of mastication from which it is rapidly absorbed through the skin to provide control of conditions such as bruxism and tooth clenching. The composition can also be applied to the skin overlying these muscles to control muscle hyperactivity (spasm) and/or trigger points, from other causes. The composition can be formulated to include another active agent such as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, for example ketoprofen.

A new non-invasive, non-toxic, non-sedating method for treatment of vascular headaches (migraine and cluster), tension headache, atypical (chronic) facial pain, allergic rhinitis and cervical muscle spasm is presented. This method comprises the application of cold or frozen water or saline (0.degree.-4.degree. C.), cold metal, or ice to the area of tenderness associated with the plexus formed by the posterior and middle superior alveolar branches of the ipsilateral maxillary nerve, as well as to other branches of the trigeminal nerve. The cold or frozen water or saline can be applied indirectly when contained in small bags, tubes or packs made of plastic film, latex, silicone, or the like. Metal tubes can also be used which have been chilled by either running cold water or ice through their hollow interiors. Preferably plastic tubes encasing a column of ice, which ice can be extruded gradually by the patient or clinician by means of a plunger inserted into the tubes are used. Alleviation of pain is noted within a short period of the onset of the treatment. Repeated treatment even during pain-free periods offers protracted benefits, i.e., prevention or amelioration of the headaches or other conditions.

Treatment of vascular and tension headache atypical facial pain allergic

A new method for treatment of vascular headaches (migraine and cluster), tension headache, atypical (chronic) facial pain, and cervical muscle spasm is presented. This method comprises the application of cold water or saline (0.degree.-4.degree. C.), cold metal or ice to the area of tenderness associated with the plexus formed by the posterior superior alveolar branch of the ipsilateral maxillary nerve, as well as to other branches of the trigeminal nerve. Immediately preceding the application of the cold, an injection of a conventional dental anesthetic in the conventional amount used for that purpose can be made. The cold or frozen water or saline can be applied indirectly when contained in small bags, tubes or packets made of plastic film, latex, silicone, or the like. Metal tubes can also be used which have been chilled by either passing cold water or ice through their hollow interiors. Plastic tubes encasing a column of ice, which ice can be extruded gradually by the patient or clinician by means of a plunger inserted into the tubes can also be advantageously used. The cold treatment even without the use of the dental anesthetic is effective if the treatment time with the cold is extended to from about 20 to about 40 minutes. Alleviation of pain is noted within a short period of the onset of the treatment. Repeated treatment even during pain free periods offers protracted benefits, i.e., prevention or amelioration of the headaches or other conditions.

A new method of treatment of vascular headaches (migraine, cluster) as well as atypical pain is presented, comprising the application of bursts of low power laser light to the area of intra-oral tenderness associated with the above conditions. This zone of tenderness is in the area of the plexus formed by the posterior and middle superior alveolar branches of the ipsilateral maxillary nerve. The intra-oral tenderness associated with vascular headaches and facial pain disappears almost immediately, returning in approximately three hours to a few days. With repeated applications, a marked decrease/elimination of the intra-oral tenderness and similar elimination of vascular headache and facial pain frequency and intensity has been observed. The treatment comprises the brief application of bursts of low power laser light (non-cutting 2 mW) from a low-power helium-neon laser, having a maximum output of 5 mW, utilizing an application time of 20 to 30 seconds.
