A re-fillable liquid tip or pod for a vaping device that includes capacitive sensor plates in the tip liquid reservoir. A liquid re-filling device provides liquid to the vaping device, drawn from a refill bottle; the re-filling device includes a capacitance measuring circuit; a microcontroller uses the data from the capacitance measuring circuit to determine if the level of liquid in the tip liquid reservoir is above or below a threshold level; if below, then a liquid pump in the re-filling device is activated to draw liquid from the refill bottle and pump it through the vaping device and up into the tip liquid reservoir. Pumping ceases once the liquid reaches the threshold level.

Electronic vaping system

A low power method of wirelessly transmitting sensor data between devices is disclosed in which a data connection is not required to be established between the devices in order to transfer the sensor data. The method comprises providing a first device () having sensor data therein received from at least one sensor. The first device () is operated in an advertising state so as to periodically and wirelessly broadcast data packets, wherein each data packet includes an identifier for identifying the first device and also includes said data from the at least one sensor (). A second device () is operated in a scanning state in which the second device () scans for data packets broadcast by other devices. The second device () receives () a data packet from the first device (), determines the identity of the first device from said identifier, extracts the sensor data (), and provides an output that indicates the identity of the first device and the sensor data associated with the first device ().

Methods for communicating sensor data between devices

A fitness watch case () is disclosed comprising a display housing () that houses a display for displaying information to a user; and a user interface () having touch-sensitive input means for controlling the watch. The user interface () is spaced apart from the display housing (), thereby enabling the user to operate the user interface using only a single finger. A navigation device has a route re-calculation function. This is activated by the user touching the screen to task away from the normal navigation map mode to a menu screen which displays multiple types of route re-calculation options.

In one embodiment of the present invention, navigation software is integrated with other kinds of software running on the same device so that capabilities of the navigation software can be made available from within the other applications. In one example embodiment, those applications can export street, city or postcode format address data to the navigation software. The address data can then be converted to a co-ordinate system based address by the navigation software, which can then automatically be set as the destination address used by the navigation software in calculating the route and/or automatically marked on a map generated and displayed by the navigation software.

Navigation device and method for exchanging data between resident applications

A navigation device programmed with a map database and software that enables a route to be planned between two user-defined places. The device may be further programmed to be able to display on a touch sensitive display a main navigation mode screen showing a map and to allow a user to input destination address information using a virtual keyboard whose keys are sized to allow reliable finger activation. The device is especially advantageous for an in-car navigation device since it allows the user to easily and reliably input address information, even whilst the device is mounted in a vehicle.

A data access, replication or communications system is distributed across a terminal-side executable running on a terminal and a server-side executable. Together the terminal-side executable and the server-side executable form a client to a larger server and collaborate by sending messages using a message queuing system over a network. The larger server can be, for example, a mail server. Splitting the client into a terminal-side executable and a server-side executable allows a terminal, such as mobile device with limited processing capacity, power, and connectivity, to enjoy the functionality of full-featured client access to a server environment using minimum resources on the mobile device by distributing some of the functionality normally associated with the client onto the server side executable, which is not so resource constrained.

An in-car navigation device depicts dynamic travel information (congestions, weather, etc.) in the context of a schematic display of the actual roads that the information relates to. In one implementation, the schematic view is a linear representation of the route and that schematic linear representation is displayed at the same time but separate from a map of a 2-D or 3-D representation of the actual road being traveled along and the current location of the device on that road. The device can send a request to a remote server over a wireless communications network for dynamic travel information relevant to a defined route and receive and display that information.

A navigation device, programmable with map data and a navigation application that enables a route to be planned between two user-defined places; the device is operable to read a removable memory card storing the device operating system, the navigation application, and the map data. It does not need to store the operating system in mask ROM; hence, customization for a specific country requires only that the appropriate memory card be inserted at the time of use.

An in-car navigation device has a route preview or simulation function. The name of the actual road along which the vehicle is simulated as moving is also displayed, just as it would be if the vehicle were actually travelling along the route. The status bar, or actually on the road itself. This 'demonstrate route' function is achievable because the device stores a database sequence of road names, together with the vectors and actions which define the roads of the calculated route (this route has been fully calculated in advance and stored in device memory). Records in this database that define the route can then be sequentially selected (say simulating progress at a rate that allows the entire journey to be completed in 15 seconds) and the device can then display simulated progress of the car along the vectors which define the roads of the calculated route on the map image.

A navigation device is programmed to be able to associate any function, belonging to a core set of functions, with a non-overlapping touch input zone that is large enough to be reliably activated using a finger. Hence, the present invention is predicated on the insight that it is possible to identify a set of core functions and to then enable all of them to be reliably selected/activated by a finger touch to a touch input zone large enough for reliable activation. This is especially advantageous for an in-car navigation device in which the core functions are those functions that are likely to be activated by a driver whilst still driving.
