A circuit breaker system and method having zone selective interlock features is provided. The system and method include the transmission of a selective interlock signal from a downstream circuit breaker to an upstream circuit breaker in the event a first or second fault condition is detected. The upstream circuit breaker upon receipt of this signal changes the response of the second circuit breaker depending on whether the first or second fault condition has been detected.

The system and method include the transmission of a selective interlock signal from a downstream circuit breaker to an upstream circuit breaker in the event of a fault condition. The upstream circuit breaker upon receipt of this signal changes the tripping response of the second circuit breaker to a restrained mode. The circuit breakers include features enabling the user to modify and adjust both the restrained and unrestrained trip curves associated with both the restrained and unrestrained modes of operation.

The method includes facilitating the connection of a waveform recorder device to the communication port of the electronic trip unit; facilitating recording in a first memory of the waveform recorder device in a circular queue fashion information relating to the first signal received from the electronic trip unit; and, in response to the second signal received from the electronic trip unit, facilitating the stopping of the recording in the first memory.

Waveform recorder apparatus and method

A waveform recorder device for mounting to an electronic circuit breaker having an electronic trip unit and a communication port is disclosed. The device includes a connector configured to connect with the communication port, and a processing circuit in signal communication with the connector. The processing circuit is responsive to instructions which, when executed by the processing circuit, facilitate responding to a conditional signal received from the circuit breaker, and in response thereto recording waveform information arising from an additional signal received from the circuit breaker.

A circuit monitoring system for performing synchronized waveform capture. A waveform capture trigger communication network interconnects a plurality of monitoring devices. The system provides direct device to device trigger communication between monitoring devices in a synchronized group. Power system waveform data is stored in the monitoring device memory of all members of the synchronized group in response to a trigger event initiated by any monitoring device in the synchronized group. High speed trigger communication results in substantially simultaneous waveform capture among the members of the synchronized group.

A current sensing system including a carrier strip, the carrier strip disposed so as to be associated with a current carrying conductor, wherein when an electrical current flows through the conductor, the electrical current flowing through the conductor creates a magnetic field having a magnetic flux, wherein the magnetic flux is responsive to the electrical current flow, a Hall effect sensor disposed relative to the carrier strip such that the Hall effect sensor is communicated with the magnetic field, wherein the Hall effect sensor generates an electrical signal responsive to the magnetic flux and a metering device in communication with the Hall effect sensor, wherein the metering device processes the electrical signal so as to create a processed signal responsive to the electrical current flow. A method for measuring current including obtaining a current sensing system having a Hall effect sensor and an electrical circuit having a conductor, wherein the current sensing system is disposed such that the Hall effect sensor is associated with the conductor, operating the electrical circuit so as to cause an electrical current to flow through the conductor, generating an electrical signal responsive to the electrical current flow using the Hall effect sensor; communicating the electrical signal with a metering device and processing the electrical signal so as to create a processed signal responsive to the electrical current flow.

A method and system for monitoring relay status using a lighting control panel is disclosed. The lighting control panel is used, for example, to control lighting throughout a building. The method includes the steps of commanding at least one relay to an on or off position from the lighting control panel, monitoring the status of the at least one relay from the lighting control panel, and setting the state of an indicator on the lighting control panel to show relay OFF, relay ON, or relay failed based on a monitored relay status.
