A synthetic world interface may be used to model digital environments, sensors, and motions for the evaluation, development, and improvement of computer vision and speech algorithms. A synthetic data cloud service with a library of sensor primitives, motion generators, and environments with procedural and game-like capabilities, facilitates engineering design for a manufactural solution that has computer vision and speech capabilities. In some embodiments, a sensor platform simulator operates with a motion orchestrator, an environment orchestrator, an experiment generator, and an experiment runner to test various candidate hardware configurations and computer vision and speech algorithms in a virtual environment, advantageously speeding development and reducing cost. Thus, examples disclosed herein may relate to virtual reality (VR) or mixed reality (MR) implementations.

Indexes for predefined search orders of items in a database are generated and stored. When a client issues a database query a responsive pre-generated index list is retrieved and provided to the client for use in, e.g., populating a U/I view for a user. Only those items that a client needs, e.g., for populating a current U/I view, are retrieved from the database and output to the client. When a change is rendered to the database, e.g., an item is added or deleted or an existing item is altered, only the change is output to the client, rather than the entire modified index or altered item. In this manner clients can more quickly and efficiently respond to user data query requests by performing some processing upfront and by limiting communications traffic to communications relevant to the client's current processing.

Various embodiments utilize a set of pixels that that make up an image that is to appear in a user interface. The method divides the applicable color space into pre-defined regions and then analyzes the image by mapping color values associated with pixels of the image into defined regions. After mapping the color values, the method determines which one or more region(s) is associated with the most mapped color values and then selects that region(s) for further analysis. Using the selected region(s), the method then divides the region(s) into further sub-regions and repeats the mapping process, progressively narrowing the regions down until a single color is selected for use in a frame that comprises part of the user interface.
