A process to form a crosslinked composition, said process comprising thermally treating a composition that comprises the following components: a) an olefin/silane interpolymer, b) a cure catalyst, and c) a multi-vinyl compound. A composition comprising the following components: a) an olefin/silane interpolymer, b) a cure catalyst, and c) a multi-vinyl compound.

Crosslinked compositions from olefin/silane interpolymers

Hydroxyl-containing copolymers of butylene oxide and ethylene oxide having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 150, an average of 1.8 to 6 hydroxyl groups per molecule of which hydroxyl groups at least 70% are primary hydroxyl groups and an oxyethylene content of no greater than 10% by weight based on the weight of the copolymer, are useful for making polyurethanes. These polyols are characterized by high reactivity and fast curing times. Polyurethanes made using these polyols have excellent mechanical properties and are highly hydrophobic.

Polyurethane cast elastomers based on poly(butylene oxide) polyols and method for making polyurethane cast elastomers

Polyurethanes are made in a one-shot process from one or more polyols having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 350, wherein at least 50% of the weight of iii) is a hydroxyl-containing polymer of propylene oxide, the hydroxyl-containing polymer of propylene oxide having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 350, an average of 1.8 to 3 hydroxyl groups per molecule of which hydroxyl groups 40 to 70% are primary hydroxyl groups, an oxyethylene content of no greater than 10% by weight based on the weight of the polymer and a polydispersity of 1.175 or less. The polyurethanes exhibit excellent mechanical properties, are highly hygroscopic and cured rapidly.

Polyurethanes and method for making polyurethanes

A composition for forming a foamed silicone elastomer is disclosed. The composition comprises: A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; B) an organohydrogensiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; C) a hydrosilylation catalyst; D) a chemical blowing agent; and E) a physical blowing agent. The hydrosilylation catalyst C) is present in a catalytically effective amount. The chemical blowing agent D) has at least one hydroxyl (OH) group, and is present in an amount to provide a OH content &#x3e;0 and &#x3c;500 parts per million (ppm). The physical blowing agent E) undergoes a phase change from a liquid to a gaseous state during exposure to atmospheric pressure and a temperature &#x2265;0&#xb0; C. The blowing agents D) and E) are different from one another. A foamed silicone elastomer, and methods of forming the composition and foamed silicone elastomer are also disclosed.

Composition, foamed silicone elastomer formed therefrom, and methods of formation

A process comprising a) mixing i) an isocyanate reactive component that contains from 2 to 100 weight percent of an aminobenzoate terminated composition wherein the isocyanate reactive component does not contain a solvent; and ii) an isocyanate terminated component having an isocyanate functionality of from 2 to 6 wherein the isocyanate terminated component does not contain a solvent; at a stoichiometric ratio of NCO to reactive hydrogen in the range of from 0.9 to 2.5; to form an adhesive composition; b) applying the adhesive composition to a primary substrate; and c) laminating the primary substrate with a secondary film to form a laminate structure, is disclosed. The laminate structure can be used as a laminating adhesive.

Aminobenzoate-terminated materials for laminated adhesives

A formulation system contains: (a) a pre-polymer reaction product of a polymeric isocyanate and a polyether polyol, where: (i) the polymeric isocyanate contains five weight-percent or more methylene diphenyl diisocyanate; (ii) the polymeric isocyanate has a functionality of 3.0 or less; (iii) the polyether polyol is present in the pre-polymer at a concentration of one to 25 weight-percent; (iv) the polyol has an equivalent weight of 50 to 500 grams per equivalent; (v) the &#x2212;NCO concentration of the pre-polymer is 15 to 31 weight-percent; (vi) the pre-polymer is free of isocyanate trimers; (b) a polyester polyol component containing 10 to 25 weight-percent of free glycol; and (c) a blowing agent that contains less than five weight-percent water; where the ratio of pre-polymer and polyester result in foam having a trimer content of 12 to 22 weight-percent, and an &#x2212;NCO index of more than 300 and less than 700.

A novel byproduct compound having the following chemical formula B: wherein R is hydrogen or CH; a composition including an admixture of: (A) a product having the following chemical formula A: wherein R is hydrogen or CH; and (B) the above novel byproduct compound having the chemical formula B; and a composition including a reaction product of: (a) an aromatic epoxy resin; (b) hydrogen; (c) a catalyst; and (d) a solvent; wherein the reaction product produced is a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin admixture of the combination of (i) the above product having the chemical formula A and (ii) the novel byproduct compound having the chemical formula B; wherein the above product having the chemical formula A includes at least a cis-cis isomer, a cis-trans isomer, and a trans-trans isomer; and the novel byproduct compound having the chemical formula B includes at least a cis isomer and a trans isomer.

Epoxy resin compositions

A polyurethane reaction system includes an isocyanate component having at least one polyisocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive component having a storage stable polyol component that is a single phase liquid mixture at 23&#xb0; C. including a first polyether polyol and a second polyether polyol. The first polyether polyol is included in an amount from 20 wt % to 90 wt %, based on total weight of the polyol component, is a glycol based polyoxypropylene-polyoxyethylene polyether polyol having number average molecular weight from 1500 g/mol to 1975 g/mol, and has a polyoxyethylene content from 26 wt % and 34 wt % based on a total weight of the first polyether polyol. The second polyether polyol is included in an amount from 10 wt % to 80 wt %, based on total weight of the polyol component, has a number average molecular weight from 750 g/mol to 4000 g/mol, and has a melting point higher than 23&#xb0; C.

Storage stable polyol composition for polyurethane elastomers

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards using a carbon-Michael compound. As an example, a method of using a carbon-Michael compound to reduce heat transfer can include locating the carbon-Michael compound between a heat provider and a heat receptor, where the carbon-Michael compound is a reaction product of a multifunctional acrylate compound with a multifunctional Michael donor, and the heat provider has a temperature from 100 C to 290 C.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards functionalized oligomers. Polycarbonate coatings for metal packaging

Polymer foam is made from a two-component foam system. The foam system includes an A-side component which contains a multifunctional Michael acceptor and a blowing agent that has a boiling temperature in the range &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. to +100&#xb0; C. The system also includes a B-side component that contains a multifunctional carbon-Michael donor, a surfactant and a blowing agent that has a boiling temperature in the range &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. to +100&#xb0; C. The viscosities of each of the components are 2,500 cPs or lower. Foam is made by separately pressurizing the components, then separately depressurizing them so they each at least partially expand. The partially expanded materials are then combined in the presence of a carbon-Michael reaction catalyst to form a reaction mixture which is cured to form the polymer foam.
