Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture for mounting a gas turbine engine are described. An apparatus for mounting a gas turbine engine to a pylon, the gas turbine including an upstream section and a downstream section, the gas turbine defining a roll axis, a yaw axis, and a pitch axis, the apparatus including: a first mount to couple the upstream section of the gas turbine engine to the pylon; a second mount to couple the upstream section of the gas turbine engine to the pylon, the second mount downstream of the first mount; a thrust linkage to couple the upstream section to the pylon, wherein the downstream section is decouplable from the upstream section without decoupling the first mount, the second mount, and the thrust linkage.

Methods and apparatus for mounting a gas turbine engine

A gas turbine engine includes a turbomachine defining a core flowpath extending through a first compressor and a second compressor, wherein a first compressor frame defines a compressor bypass passage extending from the core flowpath at the first compressor frame; and a forward compressor frame positioned between the first compressor and the second compressor, wherein the forward compressor frame defines at least in part a second portion of the core flowpath at a location downstream of the first portion of the core flowpath, wherein the forward compressor frame defines a compressor bleed passage extending from the core flowpath at a location downstream of the first compressor and upstream of the second compressor to egress a flow of air away from the core flowpath.

An exhaust device for a compressor bypass bleed system of a ducted fan engine includes a housing having an inlet end and an outlet end and defining a centerline axis from the inlet end to the outlet end, an inlet flow conditioner arranged at the inlet end, the inlet flow conditioner including a plurality of inlet openings for conducting a flow of compressed air therethrough into the housing, and an exit screen arranged at the outlet end of the housing. The exit screen includes a plurality of exit openings therethrough arranged at an acute angle with respect to the centerline axis so as to provide a flow of compressed air therethrough into a bypass flow passage at least partially in a same direction as a bypass airflow through the bypass flow passage.

A gas turbine engine and method of starting, the gas turbine engine having a rotor comprising at least a shaft mounted compressor and turbine, with a casing surrounding the rotor. The method comprises an acceleration phase, a bowed-rotor cooling phase, during the acceleration, and a combustion phase. The bowed-rotor cooling phase comprises a time where the rotational speed of the rotor is maintained below a bowed-rotor threshold speed until a non-bowed condition is satisfied, wherein the air forced through the gas turbine engine cools the rotor. The combustion phase occurs after the bowed-rotor cooling phase and upon reaching the combustion speed, wherein fuel is supplied to the gas turbine engine is turned on.

Method of starting a gas turbine engine including a cooling phase

Assembly includes an integral monolithic structure for mounting an engine to an aircraft. The monolithic structure includes a nacelle portion and a support structure. The nacelle portion includes an inlet region and a fan case region defining an annular wall about an axial channel. A ring member disposed in the axial channel is connected through a plurality of radial elements to the annular wall. The support structure portion includes a forward section integral with the nacelle portion and an aft section including at least one aircraft mount region for mounting the monolithic structure to an aircraft. The forward section includes an inlet stiffening region radially outward of the annular wall. When mounted on the aircraft, the nacelle portion and the support structure portion cooperate to form a first load path operable to transmit an applied nacelle maneuvering force directly to the aircraft instead of through the engine core.

Apparatus and method for removing an aircraft engine. A method includes mounting a frame assembly in supported connection with a support member of an associated aircraft. The frame assembly includes a frame member, a movable assembly mounted in movable relationship to the frame member, and a plurality of engine winches mounted in supported connection with the movable member. Each engine winch has an associated engine cable operably connected thereto. The movable assembly is movable between forward and rearward positions. The method further includes supporting the weight of at least a portion of an aircraft engine with the engine cables and moving the movable member relative to the frame member to displace the portion of the aircraft engine.
