A wind turbine blade is provided. The wind turbine blade includes a root region, a tip region, and a body extending from the root region to the tip region. The tip region includes a first winglet and a second winglet that extend arcuately away from one another.

A nozzle box includes first and second nozzle box halves which are bolted together. Each nozzle box half includes a nozzle ring segment that carries nozzles along its entire 180&deg; arc, so that when the nozzle box halves are joined together a nozzle box is formed with no discontinuities of nozzles around its 360&deg; circumference. The nozzles carried on each nozzle ring segment communicate with inlet ports, and associated passages which are perpendicular to the nozzle box exit plane.

Apparatus and method for directing a flow of fluid to a turbine via a nozzle box mountable to encircle a shaft. The nozzle box includes a housing having an inner wall spaced from an outer wall and joined therewith so as to form a chamber therein. The housing also includes at least one inlet and at least one outlet in which each is in fluid flow communication with the chamber. A plurality of radially projecting nozzles are positioned between the inner and outer walls and located upstream of the outlet for directing the flow of fluid through the outlet. A flow distributor is positioned between the inner and outer walls and located upstream of the nozzles for directing the flow of fluid through the chamber and to the nozzles. The flow distributor is configured to obtain a substantially uniform flow of fluid to the nozzles.

Nozzle box

An improved molten metal spray forming atomization ring converter adapted for the spray forming of a refined molten metal from a molten metal refining or melting chamber wherein the molten metal is atomized into tiny molten droplets by gas impingement in a stream of molten metal and to the structure by which the molten metal droplets are preferentially directed to and deposited on a target surface. The molten metal spray forming atomization ring converter is adapted to control the flow of liquid metal droplets and to avoid a backflow of such droplets during the gas atomization by providing structure, such as small apertures to the inner diameter of the ring, by providing large holes through the inner diameter and adding a porous metal filter to cover the large holes or by providing a gas supply system independent from the atomization system gas supply, such that a pressure or diffused source of gas is provided at the inner bore. These modifications produce a relatively small mass flow of gas sufficient to feed the entrainment requirement of the high speed jets, but sufficiently low enough to avoid preatomization of the liquid metal wherein backsplash of the metal is reduced and/or prevented.
