A filter system includes a filter assembly having an interior, an end defining a bypass opening, and another end for coupling to an air intake of an aircraft engine to permit intake air from the interior to enter the air intake. The filter system includes a bypass closure movable relative to the filter assembly between at least a first position and a second position. The bypass closure substantially covers the bypass opening in the first position to inhibit intake air from entering the interior through the bypass opening. The filter system includes an actuator coupled to at least one of the filter assembly and the bypass member to cause relative movement of the bypass closure between the first and second positions.

Filter systems for air intakes of aircraft engines and related methods

A device and method for providing a suspended agent such as a contrast agent without mechanical resuspension. A volume of agent is divided into sub-volumes in a network of tubes, cells, sponges, grooves, etc. A propellant fluid flows through the network to release the suspended agent. The network may be internal to a container for the propellant fluid. Alternatively, the network may be adjacent an exit port of a container for the propellant fluid, or may be in-line between a propellant fluid container and a patient. The invention reduces sedimentation of agents into one or a few aggregates and eliminates a mechanical mixing step. The invention thus provides a uniformly suspended agent, improving patient health and safety and increasing cost and time savings.

Suspension device and method

Apparatus and methods for maintaining the suspension of an agent suspended in a suspending medium in which a container holding the agent is revolved about an axis to create and maintain the suspension and the agent is selectively provided from the container. The agent may be selectively provided from the container while the container is simultaneously or intermittently revolved in a planetary orbit about an axis of rotation generally parallel to an axis of the container for maintaining the suspension. Alternatively, the container may be rotated about its longitudinal axis by a source of rotation to create and maintain the suspension while the agent is provided from the container due to a force imparted by the source of rotation.
