The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for protecting information for use by mobile devices. In one exemplary embodiment, a system comprises a mobile device, a base, and a memory device. The mobile device has a user input interface, and the base is secured to a user. The mobile device is configured to receive data manually input via the user input interface by the user and to wirelessly transmit the data. The mobile device is further configured to wirelessly transmit a retrieval request in response to a user input. The memory device is mounted on the base. The memory device is configured to receive and store the data wirelessly transmitted by the mobile device. The memory device is further configured to retrieve the data and to wirelessly transmit the data to the mobile device in response to the retrieval request.

Systems and methods for protecting information used by mobile devices

A drill stem guide and cover system is designed to guide a drill stem used in coke cutting operations. After a cutting tool and drill stem are inserted into a coke drum, covers close, forming a passageway small enough that it prevents the cutting tool on the end of the drill stem from being removed but large enough to allow movement of the drill stem. The drill stem moves within the passageway to allow the cutting tool to be raised and lowered as needed. The closed covers provide protection from the release of pressurized or explosive gases while the coke cutting operation is taking place. The covers can be automated so that an operator can control them from a safe distance, and the covers can be remotely opened for the removal of the drill stem and cutting tool when coke cutting operations are not taking place.

Method and apparatus of controlling a power state of a computer, the computer being connected to a monitor having a power control button. The computer is connected to the monitor over a video cable, and activation of the power control button is communicated to the computer over a wire in the video cable. In response to the activation signal, a system management interrupt is generated to invoke an SMI handler to change the power state of the computer. The power states of the computer include an ON state, an intermediate power state (such as Sleep state), and a suspend state (such as Soft-Off state).

The invention is a computer interface with a hardwired button array on the computer chassis for simulating the apparatus of common consumer electronic devices. Each button of the array of buttons is connected to at least two wires, with the depression of a button causing an electrical connection between the corresponding two wires. The voltage on one of these wires is forced to a steady-state logic low, while the voltage on the other wire is allowed to float electrically free. Nonetheless, the second wire is at a steady-state high voltage due to that wire's connection through a pull-up resistor to a voltage source. Upon electrical connection, the wire that is floating free acquires a logic low voltage. In response, a line state detector sends an interrupt signal to a microprocessor, which transitions the voltage on the wires forced to a steady-state logic low from a logic low to a free floating state. If the transitioned wire is connected to the depressed switch, the voltage on it rises since it is now connected through a pull-up resistor to a voltage source. Thus, the system can detect which button has been depressed since the system discerns both of the wires connected to the depressed button.

Peroxides are prepared from organic compounds and oxygen in a reaction vessel by introducing organic compound and oxygen to the reaction vessel and by simultaneously withdrawing a first liquid product stream from adjacent the top of the reactor and a second liquid product stream from adjacent the bottom of the reaction vessel. Suitable organic compounds include, but are not limited to, alkanes and all aryl compounds.

Double buffering operations to reduce host bus hold times when an expansion bus master is accessing the main memory on a host bus of a computer system. A system data buffer coupled between the main memory and the expansion bus includes 256-bit double read and write buffers. A memory controller coupled to the double read and write buffers and to the expansion bus includes primary and secondary address latches corresponding to the double buffers. The memory controller detects access to the main memory, compares the expansion bus address with the primary and secondary addresses and controls the double read and write buffers and the primary and secondary address latches accordingly. During write operations, data to be written to the same line of memory is written to a first of the double write buffers until a write occurs to an address to a different line before data is transferred to main memory. During read operations, a full line is loaded into a first of the double read buffers, and the next full line is retrieved into a second read buffer from main memory if a subsequent read hit occurs in the first read buffer.

The invention is a computer system with a button array on the computer chassis for simulating the operation of common consumer electronic devices. Each button of the array of buttons is hardwired to the system processor. Upon activation of one of these buttons, an interrupt signal is sent to the system processor. The system processor halts whatever it is doing, and subsequently identifies the activated button. A signal generator attached to the buttons then sends the system processor a second interrupt signal, such that upon exiting the handling of the first interrupt, the system processor is presented with a second interrupt. The system processor then handles the second interrupt. While handling this second interrupt, the system processor executes whatever function corresponds to the activated button. The system processor then exits the handling of the second interrupt and resumes whatever activity it was engaged in before the activation of the button.

A multiprocessor system includes first and second processing units. Each of these processing units includes at least a processor and preferably also a cache memory, a cache memory controller and a numerical coprocessor. Each processing unit is reset in response to a system reset signal but only selected portions of the processing units are reset in response to a partial-reset signal. The system can also include a number other components such as video circuitry, a hard disk drive, bus interface circuitry, a speaker, a keyboard controller and a keyboard.
