The processor is further configured to transmit an index signal to the article transportation device of each modular manufacturing station via the communications conduit based, at least in part, on the second position signal from each modular manufacturing station.

A first vertical lift device moves a first carrier track, adjacent the vertical discontinuity, in a vertical direction relative to the transportation path.

The method further includes selecting one of the one or more envelopes as a function of one of the percentage of the types of parts capable of being accommodated with the one or more envelopes or the percentage of the quantity of parts capable of being accommodated within the one or more envelopes.
