Methods and systems are disclosed for obtaining and analyzing information to determine an estimated state of a real world. First information is obtained from a first source of a plurality of sources (e.g., data stores, real-time data streams, or information services), where the first information is potentially indicative of first and second states of the real world. If the first information exceeds a first decision threshold, then the estimated state is the first state, and if the first information exceeds a second decision threshold, then the estimated state is the second state. If the first information does not exceed either of the first and second decision thresholds, then second information is obtained from a second source. Obtaining the second information is based on whether the second source includes information that is relevant to the estimated state and whether the second source includes information that is redundant with the first information.

An embodiment of a device in accordance with the present invention is adapted to be positioned at least partially in a mouth of a user to reduce resistance of air flow in the oral pharyngeal region and to improve anatomic and functional relationships of the oral pharyngeal structure. The device comprises a base unit adapted to be removably mounted on a lower jaw of the mouth, a pair of tongue positioner guides, each tongue positioner guide connected at a proximal end to the base unit, and a pair of tongue positioners, each connected with a distal end of a corresponding tongue positioner guide. The tongue positioner guides each comprise a bendable material so that the pair of tongue positioners are repositionable relative to the base unit.

An embodiment of a device in accordance with the present invention is adapted to be positioned at least partially in a mouth of a user to reduce resistance of air flow in the oral pharyngeal region and to improve anatomic and functional relationships of the oral pharyngeal structure. The device comprises a base unit adapted to be removably mounted on a lower jaw of the mouth, a pair of tongue positioner guides, each tongue positioner guide connected at a proximal end to the base unit, and a pair of tongue positioners, each connected with a distal end of a corresponding tongue positioner guide. When the base unit is mounted on the lower jaw, the tongue positioners are adapted to be arranged beneath a tongue of the mouth so that the tongue is urged against a soft palette of the mouth to thereby reduce resistance of air flow in the oral pharyngeal region and improve anatomic and functional relationships of the oral pharyngeal structure.

Modular dental appliance for improving airflow through nasal-pharyngeal airway

A mouth guard seated at least partially on an upper jaw of a user to reduce resistance of air flow in a nasal channel of the user comprises a flange positionable between the upper jaw and an associated upper lip such that the flange extends above a gum line of the upper jaw. A chamber within the flange includes a valve for adjusting the volume of the chamber so that pressure applied by the flange to the upper lip is adjustable to affect dilation of the nasal channel resulting from such pressure, thereby allowing the user to selectably reduce resistance of air flow in the nasal channel.

A dental device comprises an intraoral nasal dilator and a mandibular repositioner working synergistically as an anti-snoring device. The device has a lower segment of thermoplastic material which is formed to fit over the lower teeth and is connected to an upper section of molded material extending between the upper jaw and the upper lip by a wire connector. The wire connector has mechanisms allowing adjustment of the lower jaw positioning. A wire extension with acrylic pads at end is bonded in the midline of the flange and extends out so that the pads stretch the tissue of the lip and lateral nasal walls preventing collapse during respiration while the anterior repositioning of the lower jaw maintains opening of the posterior pharyngeal airway during sleep functioning as an anti-snoring device. Additional applications of the intraoral nasal dilator include incorporation into sports mouth guards using a variety of materials.

Method for treating sleep apnea

A folding display includes a tower member having a display panel with advertising indicia on a front surface and a support panel attached to the back surface. The display and support panels feature lateral fold lines so that the tower member may be folded for shipping and storage. The support panel has a pair of flaps formed therein and each flap features an arcuate surface. The flaps may be moved into a position where the arcuate surfaces engage the back surface of the display panel so that it assumes a convex configuration. The tower display is then capable of standing on a generally horizontal surface. A pair of the tower displays may be positioned in spaced relation with a bridge member, also featuring advertising indicia, extending between them. A base member lays on the surface upon which the display is standing and features end portions that engage the tower members.
