In one example, electronic transaction data sets are processed for a multitude of disparate transactions using a plurality of autonomous networks. Circuitry receives and/or processes electronic transaction data to identify a user via information provided in the transaction data, and uses the identification to access profile information for selecting one of a plurality of networks. In this example, a user can be identified using one of a plurality of identification approaches (e.g., different account IDs), and such identification can be used for retrieving and using electronic profile data to select a transaction network for the user, which may be completely independent from the identification. Data is accordingly configured so that the selected network can receive and process the data, such as by configuring the data into a network-specific format and/or communicating the data using network-specific protocols. The configured data is transmitted to the selected network.

Buyer routing arrangements and methods for disparate network systems

Electronic transaction data sets are processed for a multitude of disparate transactions using a plurality of autonomous payment networks. A software-programmed computer circuit receives and processes electronic transaction data to identify and use electronic ID data to retrieve stored profile data. The computer circuit then uses the retrieved profile data to select one of a plurality of payment networks available to each of a buyer and seller involved in the transaction. Electronic payment is carried out using the selected payment networks.

Profile based arrangements and methods for disparate network systems

Electronic transaction data and/or electronic payment data therefor is routed to disparate payment networks for a multitude of transactions. A software-programmed computer type circuit receives and processes point-of-sale transaction data to select two disparate payment networks for processing electronic payment for the transaction data. A variety of systems, methods and arrangements are implemented in connection with a processor-controlled routing arrangement. According to one such implementation, a computer-implemented method facilitates payment provided between disparate payment networks of buyers and sellers. The method uses a computer-arrangement to interface with a social website that has user profiles, each user profile corresponding to a user identifier, and for use with a seller website that offers products or services for purchase by users and that generates transaction data for a current user accessing the website. A current user identifier corresponding to a current user profile and the transaction data is communicates to the computer-arrangement. A buyer payment network is selected from a plurality of disparate buyer payment networks that are each associated with the current user identifier. Based upon the selection, the transaction data is formatted to facilitate payment against the selected buyer payment network.

The invention comprises a system and method for 'waterfall' type payment processing using multiple alternative payment sources. A payor provides account information for multiple payment sources, such as a bank checking account, savings account, first credit card account, second credit card account, and so forth. The multiple payment sources are prioritized so that one is a primary payment source, another is a secondary payment source, another is a tertiary payment source, and so forth. After setting up the waterfall payment arrangement, when a bill becomes due a payee or third party payment administrator submits transactions against the payment sources in their order of priority until the payment is satisfied. Other variations and enhancements are disclosed.

In a specific instance, a computer arrangement implements the following operations for a transaction involving a plurality of merchant offerings that are parseable by merchant offering identifiers. For a plurality of identified buyer accounts from which monetary payables (e.g., cash, credit and/or debit limits) are tracked, stored data sets are accessed that are indicative of types of merchant offerings to be associated with particular ones of the plurality of buyer accounts. Payment is facilitated for the items as a function of at least one of the plurality of buyer accounts. Payment is tracked for the items as a function of the merchant offering identifiers.
