A transfer case pump includes an oil pump, a cover assembly, and a torque transfer mechanism. The oil pump has a pump shaft, and is configured to pressurize a lubricant in response to a rotation of the pump shaft. The pump shaft rotates around a pump axis. The pump axis is parallel to a rear axis of a rear shaft. The pump axis is offset from the rear axis. The cover assembly has a channel configured to transfer the lubricant from the oil pump to the rear shaft. The cover assembly extends around the rear shaft and around the pump shaft. The torque transfer mechanism is configured to transfer a torque from the rear shaft to the pump shaft.

Transfer case off-axis pump

A system for a vehicle includes a filter module and a coefficient determination module. The filter module generates a valve body oil temperature signal as a function of a transmission oil temperature signal, the valve body oil temperature signal, and a filter coefficient. The coefficient determination module varies the filter coefficient based on the valve body oil temperature signal. The transmission oil temperature signal corresponds to a first temperature of transmission oil measured at a location between a torque converter and a variable bleed solenoid (VBS). The valve body oil temperature signal corresponds to a second temperature of transmission oil provided to a clutch of a transmission from a valve body.

Transmission oil temperature estimation systems and methods

A method for controlling the torque phase of a clutch-to-clutch power downshift in a vehicle includes determining, during a near-sync boost (NSB) state of the power downshift, a synchronization speed. The method includes estimating, via a controller, a feed-forward clutch pressure that holds a speed of the turbine at the synchronous speed, and then ramping a clutch pressure command to the oncoming clutch to the calculated feed-forward clutch pressure. Closed-loop proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control is initiated over the clutch pressure command during the NSB phase in response to a predetermined PID activation event. A vehicle includes an engine, transmission, torque converter, and a controller. The controller has a processor and memory on which instructions embodying the above method are recorded. Execution of the instructions by the processor causes the controller to execute the method.
