An integral modified polyolefin resin/silicone elastomer layered article is provided together with a method for its production. The integral polyolefin-based resin/silicone elastomeric material article comprises a shaped layer of a polyolefin-based copolymer or grafted polyolefin. It contains silyl trialkoxy groups, carboxylic acid groups and/or —OH groups. A silicone elastomeric material layer is subsequent to being cured from a hydrosilylation curable silicone elastomer composition comprising one or more adhesion promoters.

Handling additive for silicone elastomer bases

A composition for forming a foamed silicone elastomer is disclosed. The composition comprises: A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; B) an organohydrogensiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; C) a hydrosilylation catalyst; D) a chemical blowing agent; and E) a physical blowing agent. The hydrosilylation catalyst C) is present in a catalytically effective amount. The chemical blowing agent D) has at least one hydroxyl (OH) group, and is present in an amount to provide a OH content &#x3e;0 and &#x3c;500 parts per million (ppm). The physical blowing agent E) undergoes a phase change from a liquid to a gaseous state during exposure to atmospheric pressure and a temperature &#x2265;0&#xb0; C. The blowing agents D) and E) are different from one another. A foamed silicone elastomer, and methods of forming the composition and foamed silicone elastomer are also disclosed.

An electronic article has a perimeter and includes a superstrate, an optoelectronic element disposed on the superstrate, and a silicone encapsulant that is formed from a curable silicone composition and that is disposed on the optoelectronic element sandwiching the optoelectronic element between the superstrate and the silicone encapsulant. The electronic article is formed using a method that includes the step of depositing the curable silicone composition on the optoelectronic element in a pattern defining at least one passage extending from an interior of the electronic article to a perimeter of the electronic article. The method also includes laminating the superstrate, the optoelectronic element, and the curable silicone composition. The curable silicone composition has a complex viscosity of from 10,000 to 50,000,000 cPs at 25&#xb0; C. as measured at 1 radian per second at 1 to 5% strain. During lamination, the curable silicone composition cures to form the silicone encapsulant and air escapes from through the at least one passage.

Method of forming an electronic article

A method of preparing a silicone resin film, the method comprising coating a release liner with a nanomaterial-filled silicone composition comprising a hydrosilylation-curable silicone composition and a carbon nanomaterial, and heating the coated release liner at a temperature sufficient to cure the silicone resin; a silicone resin film prepared according to the preceding method; and a nanomaterial-filled silicone composition.

This application relates to cyclic siloxane compounds comprising the structural formula where a&#x2267;2 and b&#x2267;2, R is an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R1 is independently hydrogen or methyl, compositions comprising any of the above cyclic siloxanes and an additional silicone, emulsion compositions comprising any of the above cyclic siloxanes or the above composition, and a process for preparing the above cyclic siloxane compounds comprising reacting a chloro end-blocked polydimethylsiloxane with a diol functional compound containing at least 3 carbon atoms.

A free standing film includes: i. a matrix layer having opposing surfaces, and ii. an array of nanorods, where the nanorods are oriented to pass through the matrix layer and protrude an average distance of at least 1 micrometer through one or both surfaces of the matrix layer. A method for preparing the free standing film includes (a) providing an array of nanorods on a substrate, optionally (b) infiltrating the array with a sacrificial layer, (c) infiltrating the array with a matrix layer, thereby producing an infiltrated array, optionally (d) removing the sacrificial layer without removing the matrix layer, when step (b) is present, and (e) removing the infiltrated array from the substrate to form the free standing film. The free standing film is useful as an optical filter, ACF, or TIM, depending on the type and density of nanorods selected.

Process for preparing conductive films and articles prepared using the process

Conductive curable compositions contain a free radical polymerizable monomer, oligomer or polymer (i); an organoborane amine complex (ii), and an electrically or thermally conductive filler (iii). The conductive curable compositions can also contain an amine reactive compound having amine reactive groups (iv); and (v) a component capable of generating a gas when mixed with a compound bearing active hydrogen and a catalyst. The electrically conductive curable compositions can be used in composite articles of manufacture in which substrates are coated or bonded together with the composition and cured; and as electrically conductive rubbers, electrically conductive tapes, electrically conductive adhesives, electrically conductive foams, and electrically conductive pressure sensitive adhesives. The thermally conductive compositions can also be used in composite articles of manufacture in which substrates are coated or bonded together with the composition and cured, and as thermal interface materials, thermally conductive rubbers, thermally conductive tapes, thermally conductive adhesives, thermally conductive foams, thermally conductive seals and gaskets, and thermally conductive pressure sensitive adhesives.

A thermally conductive grease includes (A) a polyorganosiloxane having a viscosity less than 50 cSt (mm/s) at 25&#xb0; C. and (B) a thermally conductive filler. The thermally conductive grease is useful as a thermal interface material for electronic devices.

A process of making a polydiorganosiloxane-silica foundation mixture from a free-flowing, powdered, surface-modified, reinforcing silica-polydiorganosiloxane concentrate used to make, for example, RTV silicone sealant compositions which have non-sag properties. The foundation mixtures are made by combining, mixing, and heating a reinforcing silica filler and a surface modifying agent to a temperature of &gt;90.degree. C. to &lt;180.degree. C. using 0.1 to 0.5 parts by weight of the surface modifying agent per one part by weight of the silica. Polydiorganosiloxane is added gradually to the resulting fluidized filler over a time period of less than 10 minutes to obtain the free flowing powdered reinforcing silica-polydiorganosiloxane concentrate. The foundation mixture is obtained by massing the concentrate and adding more polydiorganosiloxane to obtain a mixture which has from 8 to 20 weight percent silica filler. RTV silicone sealant compositions can be obtain in 10 to 15 minutes from the start of making the surface modified silica filler to the complete sealant composition.

The present invention relates to an electrorheological gel comprising a curable silicone polymer, electrorheologically active particles, and a metal catalyst. The composition can further comprise an organohydrogensilicon crosslinking agent, and/or an inhibitor. The dynamic mechanical properties of the filled gel can be tuned with an electric field such that large changes in storage modulus can be achieved.
