A mower blade speed control system with an electronic control unit providing engine speed commands to an internal combustion engine having a maximum power speed and a reduced economy speed, and a continuously variable transmission with variable displacement providing rotational power from the engine to a plurality of mower blades. The electronic control unit monitors engine load and automatically adjusts engine speed and the displacement of the continuously variable transmission in response to engine load to achieve a constant rotational speed of a plurality of mower blades at different engine speeds.

A tractor ground positioning system includes ground positioning controls outside of an operator station of the tractor that can be actuated by an operator while maintaining contact with the tractor to move the tractor forward or reverse to connect an implement. A controller commands the tractor to move at a desired ground speed only while the operator continues actuating the controls.

A one piece fan shroud for a tractor has first and second faces, a frame with top, left and right sides, a bottom, and an upper wall extending from the top of the frame. The upper wall, left and right sides of the fan shroud are dimensioned to match the internal geometry and seal with an internal surface of a tractor hood. A rubber seal may extend around the upper wall and the left and right sides of the frame.

A control apparatus is provided for a hydrostatic transmission to simulate a gear drive on a tractor. The hydrostatic transmission has a swashplate that is angularly movable to a plurality of positions, and a proportional valve that provides a control pressure to a servo piston to control the hydrostatic transmission swashplate position. A transmission control lever may be moved to a plurality of positions, each position providing a different voltage signal to a microcontroller. The microcontroller receives and converts a voltage signal to a coil current to actuate the proportional valve.

Hydrostatic transmission controls to simulate gear drive

A hydrostatic transmission on a tractor is operated by a microcontroller providing current commands to the hydrostatic transmission pump, and manual controls that provide signals to the microcontroller so the current commands cause the hydrostatic transmission to operate in either a first mode or a second mode. In the first or automatic mode the swash plate position may be continuously variable based on the position of a foot pedal. In the second or gear mode the swash plate may be moved to any of a plurality of discrete positions based on the position of a manually operable switch.

Hydrostatic transmission controls with alternative operating modes

A control system for a utility vehicle, particularly a compact utility tractor, that is speed-controlled by a hydrostatic transmission, prevents engine stalling by automatically reducing the stroke of a pump of the hydrostatic transmission, and thus reducing the vehicle speed, when the unloaded engine speed drops below a predetermined threshold. The apparatus includes a servo controlled hydrostatic transmission, an engine speed sensor, a throttle position sensor and a controller. The unloaded engine speed is determined by either an engine throttle lever position or by an engine speed capture algorithm that continuously monitors engine speed and records engine speed occurring when the transmission control pedals are positioned in neutral.

Anti-stall transmission control for utility vehicle

A cruise control system for a utility vehicle, which is speed-controlled by a hydrostatic transmission, includes a controller having an input for receiving a selectable set speed signal, and an output for sending a speed control signal to at least one proportional valve of a hydrostatic transmission servo control system. The vehicle ground speed is continuously monitored by a speed sensor operatively associated with a rotating gear in the vehicle drive train that rotates in proportion to vehicle ground speed, to create a ground speed signal. The selectable set speed signal can be input to controller memory by driving the vehicle at a desired ground speed and then activating a speed set switch. The speed control algorithm of the controller thereafter compares the set speed to the ground speed signal from the speed sensor and corrects the control signal to the proportional valve to correct hydrostatic transmission speed output.

Speed control for a utility vehicle

A control system sets a set maximum speed of a utility vehicle, below the capable maximum speed of the vehicle, and recalibrates speed output signals corresponding to the set maximum speed. The system includes a microcontroller and a user-operated vehicle speed actuator, signal-connected to the microcontroller. The speed actuator is calibrated to actuate speeds, via the microcontroller, in a range from a minimum speed to a maximum speed. A user-operated speed set activator is used in conjunction with a ground speed sensor to set the set maximum speed. The microcontroller records the new maximum speed of the vehicle, and recalibrates the pedal position according to the new maximum speed.
