A writing instrument such as a pen or stylus, that is capable of writing contemporaneously in different physical characteristics, such as color and visual appearance—that is, without the need to switch out different cartridges to write in different characteristics; as well as to an ink device for such a writing instrument, such as a multi-cartridge tip having multiple nibs, where the multiple nibs can be used to write on a substrate contemporaneously. A writing instrument herein can be configured to write at a substantially perpendicular angle to the substrate, or slightly angled for ease of a user's hand position. A writing instrument that encompasses both electronic and manual (ink) features is also contemplated.

A method comprising identifying content to underlay digital content of a display, displayed through a user interface creating a temporary array; populating a temporary array with the identified content for underlayment; and responsive to an input, transforming the temporary array into a populated digital underlayment. The content can be one or more of the following: video, text, static image, ticker, live video, live stream, recorded stream, live broadcast, or recorded broadcast. The display can be a webpage of an online marketplace, social media site, or website.

Systems and methods for use of digital underlayment

Disclosed is a pen for writing, referred to as a palm pen herein because the body of the pen fits into the palm of a human hand. The palm pen can include a spherically shaped body, and an ink delivery system. The ink delivery system can include a tip having an end connected to the body and an opposite end comprising a nib, an ink conduit having an end coupled to the nib within the tip and an opposite end extending inside the body, and a first ink cartridge fluidly coupled with the opposite end of the ink conduit and contained within the body. The ink delivery system can additionally include a cartridge holder having an active cartridge slot for the first ink cartridge and cartridge storage slots for storage of additional ink cartridges.

An object detection device including at least one image capture element can capture image data in a field of view and detect types of objects located in that region. Information such as a direction of travel or speed of the object may be used to determine a relative position of the object of interest, for example relative to the object detection device or a target object. The data from multiple devices for a region can be aggregated such that objects can be tracked as they move though the region. Information about the relative position of the object of interest can be used to trigger alerts to users in the area.

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can include one or more cameras for capturing image data within a field of view that depends in part upon the location and orientation of the UAV. At least a portion of the image data can be processed on the UAV to locate objects of interest, such as people or cars, and use that information to determine where to fly the drone in order to capture higher quality image data of those or other such objects. Once identified, the objects of interest can be counted, and the density, movement, location, and behavior of those objects identified. This can help to determine occurrences such as traffic congestion or unusual patterns of pedestrian movement, as well as to locate persons, fires, or other such objects. The data can also be analyzed by a remote system or service that has additional resources to provide more accurate results.
