Lasers comprising a substrate and a layer of organic material over the substrate. The organic material includes host and dopant materials that result in the laser emission of a desired color when pumped by optical pump energy. Host materials include CBP and tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum, which when combined with dopant materials such as coumarin-47, coumarin-30, perylene, rhodamine-6G, DCM, DCM2, and pyrromethane-546 result in the efficient lasing of colors such as blue, green and yellow.

An emissive layer in an organic light emitting device comprising a heterostructure comprises a host material, an emissive molecule, present as a dopant in said host material, adapted to luminesce when a voltage is applied across the heterostructure; and a polarization molecule, present as a dopant in said host material and having a dipole moment, that affects the wavelength of light emitted when said emissive dopant molecule luminesces, wherein said polarization molecule is selected from the group consisting of N,N-dimethylparanitroaniline, certain polyphenyls, certain stilbenes, certain fluorenes, and certain diphenylacetylenes, and a method for making same.

Color-tunable organic light emitting devices

Light emitting devices including at least one pixel comprising a first light emitting stack and a second light emitting stack placed side-by-side. The first and second light emitting stacks each comprise a first OLED and a second OLED over the first OLED. A prime mover for transforming energy from the pressure form to the mechanical form. The prime mover comprises a pair of toothed rotors which engage one another so as to be self-timing. Each rotor has a first portion of relatively large diameter and a second portion of relatively small diameter, each of the portions extending approximately 180.degree.. The rotors are enclosed in respective intersecting cylindrical chambers in a housing, with the tips of the teeth of the small diameter portion of each rotor being displaced radially inwardly from the peripheral surface of the corresponding chamber, and with the tips of the teeth of the large diameter portion of each rotor being directly adjacent to the inner surface of the corresponding chamber. First and second sealing members are mounted in the housing, and these engage the tips of successively passing teeth of the large diameter portion of each rotor, as the rotors turn. A drive fluid is introduced into an inlet in the housing located at the common tangent of the two rotors, and the drive fluid exits through a diametrically opposed aligned outlet.
