Complexes of IGF-I and IGFBP-3 with new levels of purity are provided. Chromatographic techniques have been developed that remove contaminants, such as mass and charge variants of IGFBP-3. The new techniques enable the production of high-quality pharmaceutical compositions comprising IGF-I/IGFBP-3 complexes.

Purified rhIGF-I/rhIGFBP-3 complexes and their method of manufacture

The present invention relates to methods for the production and isolation of D-chiro-inositol (DCI) from plant extracts. Specifically the present invention provides a method to produce D-chiro-inositol from a precursor moiety by conversion in concentrated hydrochloric acid. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for the efficient production of DCI by a process involving the extraction of D-pinitol from soy hulls followed by conversion thereof to DCI.

Methods for the production of D-chiro-inositol and the use of D-chiro inositol obtained therefrom

The present invention provides compositions comprising synergistically effective amounts of D-chiro-inositol and sulfonylureas. The present invention also provides methods to treat a subject with insulin resistance comprising administration of D-chiro-inositol and sulfonylurea, either as concurrent single agents or as a combined composition. In particular the methods of the present invention are useful in maintaining pancreatic beta cell function/viability and thus delay diabetes progression. The methods and compositions of the present invention are particularly efficacious in treating insulin resistant subjects with a fasting blood glucose level of less than or equal to 180 mg/dL.

Compositions comprising D-chiro inositol and sulfonylureas and methods of treatment thereof

The present invention relates to methods for the production and isolation of D-chiro-inositol (DCI) from kasugamycin. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method of producing DCI by hydrolysis of kasugamycin with aqueous trifluoroacetic acid in the presence of a strongly acidic ion exchange resin. The present invention further relates to methods of isolating DCI from an aqueous mixture, such as a hydrolysis mixture, either directly or by forming an organic derivative of DCI.

Methods for the production and isolation of D-chiro-inositol from kasugamycin and the use of D-chiro-inositol obtained therefrom

Compounds, topical compositions and methods useful for preventing the penetration of toxic chemicals through the skin of a mammal are disclosed. The compounds of the invention provide an enhanced barrier for the skin of a mammal to further inhibit or decrease the passage of bioactive agents through the skin of a mammal either from the outside environment into the systems of said mammal or from the mammal into the outside environment.

These compounds are useful for alleviating Parkinsonism, glaucoma, hyperprolactinemia and for inducing weight loss in mammals.
