Plural article transfer mechanisms are operated in timed sequence by an electronic control synchronized to a main drive shaft. Each article transfer mechanism transfers articles from a dead plate to a moving conveyor. An extensible-retractable pusher arm engages, moves and releases the articles between 90.degree. positions under control of a fluid motor mounted on a turntable. Operation of the fluid motor is based on rotary alignment of a pair of turntable ports with a pair of fluid supply channels in a turntable drive body. The turntable is stepped in rotary increments between 90.degree. positions by an electric stepping motor. The angular speed profile of the pusher arm between the 90.degree. positions is governed by a programmed electronic control, including a PROM, which drives the stepping motor. An adjustable finger clip assembly is snap-fitted on the pusher arm and provided with a handle for ease of replacement.

Article transfer mechanism

A quadruple gob glass feeder and cooperating shear mechanism are disclosed. The shear mechanism has two arms reciprocal toward and away from each other. Each arm has four blades arranged in mating pairs to cooperate with each other for cutting four streams of glass.

Glass stream cutting apparatus

A shear mechanism adapted to be attached to a glass feeder for cutting a glass stream into gobs includes a housing supporting a pair of blade arms. At least one blade is connected to each arm. The blades are adapted to be in overlapping relationship in one position of the arms. A motor is supported by the housing and has its output mechanically connected to a pair of shafts for oscillating the arms in unison in opposite directions between open and closed positions.

Shear mechanism for glass feeder

A profile control for a shear mechanism of a glass processing machine eliminates cams, gears, etc. otherwise required to oscillate the shear mechanism arms in unison in opposite directions between open and closed positions. The profile is the angular position time curve of the arms as they open and close over a predetermined angular displacement. The profile is controlled by adjustable oscillators and programmable memory (PROM) which determine the commands to a reversible dc motor drive. The control synchronizes the movement of the arms in proper phase relationship with respect to the feeder mechanism of the glass processing machine.

Profile control for shear mechanism

First and second arms for holding a blank mold are pivotable about a shaft between an open position and a closed position by means of a motor. A motor operated cam cooperates with rollers on the arms to apply a clamping force to prevent premature movement of the arms toward an open position.
