A golf swing training device includes a pad having a light-reactive material on one side of the pad, and an indicator having a light source capable of striking the light-reactive material on the pad and creating a visual representation of the light on the pad. The pad includes printed indicia on the light-reactive material in order to illustrate the proper alignment and path for a putting stroke. An individual can place a golf ball on the pad and attach the indicator to the putter, and perform a putting stroke to strike the golf ball on the pad. The movement path of the putter head over the pad is visually illustrated by the reaction of the light source with the light-reactive material such that the individual can compare the actual putting stroke indicated by the light source path on the pad to the printed proper path indicia for the putting stroke. The visual representation of the actual path fades in a short amount of time such that the individual can perform subsequent putting strokes in order to improve the correspondence between the actual putting stroke and the optimal stroke represented on the pad.

Light-based golf swing trainer

A simplified VCR programmer provides only the essential input controls required for programming a VCR to perform timer activated recording of television programs. The invention performs seven day single event programming including weekly recording or Monday through Friday (M-F) daily recording. This simplified VCR programmer includes directly manipulable input controls for setting the record start time including AM or PM, the record stop time and the day of the week. The VCR programmer also includes a liquid crystal display (LCD) that displays the correct time and day of the week, and an infrared (IR) transmitter for transmitting the manufacturers' record codes and stop codes stored in the VCR programmer. The real time clock on the LCD is set by three push-button switches to set the day, hour and minute of the clock. A test push-button switch tests the record code function by sending out the stored record codes to the VCR receiver. All of the manufacturers' record and stop codes for most major VCR brands are transmitted sequentially by the IR transmitter to the VCR at the pre-programmed times.

Simplified VCR programmer

A device for displaying power consumption rates includes a register for storing and displaying the cost of a unit of power, e.g., the cost per kilowatt hour as assessed by the local power company. A first display indicates the cost of power consumed over a first time period (such as an hour) based upon the then-existing instantaneous rate of power use. A second display indicates the cost of power projected to be consumed over a second time period such as a day, assuming that the then-existing instantaneous rate of power usage is maintained. A third display indicates the cost of power projected to be consumed over a third time period such as 30 days while fourth, fifth and sixth displays provide the instantaneous rate at which power is being consumed as well as totalized actual costs over two different time periods. A register is equipped with structure for adjustment whereby the cost stored in the register of a unit of power may be changed. The information displayed by the device may thereby be kept current and accurate even though electrical rates may change. The front panel of the device is 'human engineered' for easy readability and first presentation of the most important information.

Power consumption rate display device

A machine for treating a surface area within a boundary perimeter includes a self propelled chassis having a surface treating device mounted on it. A computing section is mounted on the chassis and a powered wheel (or each of plural powered wheels) has a motor module for receiving command signals from the computing section. A position sensor is coupled to the computing section for generating a feedback signal representing the actual position of the machine. A data loading device coacts with the computing section for transmitting data to such computing section. A data file stores graphic data developed from a graphic depiction representing the surface area to be treated as well as other data developed in other ways. The data file coacts with the computing section and transmits graphic and other data to it. The computing section is arranged for processing the data and the feedback signal and responsively generating command signals directed to each motor module. Such modules, and the motors controlled thereby, propel the machine over the surface area selected to be treated. A method for treating a surface area is also disclosed.

Machine and method using graphic data for treating a surface

A disposable apparatus for the collection of refuse includes a sheetlike member for placement upon a surface. The member is devoid of apertures, defines a regular geometric shape, and in some embodiments includes a plurality of disposable securing stakes or adhesive pads attached at corners thereof for affixing the member to the surface during the collection of refuse. The corners are securable to one another by tying for disposal of the member, the securing stakes or adhesive pads, and the refuse collected thereon. Several preferred embodiments are disclosed.

Disposable apparatus for the collection of refuse

The disclosed memory enhancing apparatus includes an oscillating section for generating a plurality of first signals. A counting section is coupled to the oscillating section for receiving the first signals and responsively generating a plurality of second signals having time intervals therebetween, each of the time intervals having a duration different from that of the immediately preceding interval. A dividing section is coupled to the counting section and includes means for varying the frequency of the first signals while an output section is coupled to the counting section for providing a reminding signal in response to each of the second signals.
