An antimicrobial wipe that contains a polymer coating having a synergistic combination of ingredients for providing controlled release of an antimicrobial agent and also good antimicrobial efficacy is provided. One such ingredient is a high molecular weight polyamideamine release agent. Due to the polycationic nature of the release agent, it is able to adhere to the wipe, which is generally formed from fibers having a negative surface charge (e.g., cellulosic fibers). In this manner, the release agent can occupy binding sites on the wipe to inhibit the antimicrobial agent from adhering thereto, thus allowing it to be expressed in the germicidal solution to kill microbes on the desired surface. The adherence of the release agent to the wipe is even further enhanced by crosslinking the polyamideamine to increase its molecular weight, thereby enabling it to form a structural network that physically adheres to the wipe and that blocks the antimicrobial agent from binding thereto. Furthermore, the polyamideamine is amidated so that it contains secondary and/or tertiary amides. A cell permeabilizer is also employed in the polymer coating to enhance the efficacy of the antimicrobial agent during use. More particularly, polycationic materials are particularly useful in permeabilizing the outer cell membrane without adversely impacting the ability of the polyamideamine to release the antimicrobial agent within the wipe.

Wipe for use with a germicidal solution

A breathable, liquid-impermeable, apertured film/nonwoven laminate is provided for use as a backsheet on various absorbent articles such as diapers, sanitary napkins, incontinent garments, and the like. The laminate is formed from a nonporous, breathable polymeric film layer, an apertured film layer, and a nonwoven web layer. The layers may be attached in an arrangement where the breathable polymeric film layer is sandwiched between the nonwoven web layer and apertured film layer, or where the apertured film layer is sandwiched between the nonwoven web layer and the breathable film layer. A film cover for use in absorbent materials such as feminine care products, surgical drapes, fenestration reinforcement, absorbent pads and the like including a polymeric film having a top planar surface and a bottom planar surface and forming a plurality of apertures, at least a portion of which have an aperture region having a higher wettability than a portion of the top planar surface of the polymeric film.

Apertured film covers with localized wettability and method for making the same

Embossed textured films are made by feeding a thin thermoplastic polymer barrier film through the nip of a bonding roll assembly having a patterned roll and an anvil roll rotating at different circumferential speeds which differ by 5% to 200%. The bond pattern is imparted to the film as well as additional texture due to the differential speeds of the rollers thereby creating an embossed, textured barrier film having improved hand and a hydrohead in excess of about 30 mbar.

Method of forming thin, embossed, textured barrier films

There is provided a cushioned absorbent material which may be used as a bodyside liner for a personal care product which is made from a lofty nonwoven fabric onto which is extruded a film to form a laminate. The laminate is then apertured and has an 8 cc intake rate of at most 20 sec and a rewet of less than 1 gm. Such a liner may be used in personal care products like diapers, training pants, feminine hygiene products, absorbent underpants, adult incontinence products, and the like.

Permeable fiber-like film coated nonwoven

The present invention is directed to a process and apparatus for aperturing, creping and optionally laminating webs such as, for example, films and fibrous nonwovens. The present invention is also directed to the resultant materials. The process for aperturing and creping webs utilizes a pattern roll and an anvil roll with the anvil roll being rotated faster that the pattern roll. The resultant material is visually much different than conventional materials which are typically run through similar rolls wherein the pattern roll and anvil roll are run at the same speed or wherein the pattern roll is run faster than the anvil roll. The resultant materials have a wide variety of applications not the least of which includes a liner material for personal care absorbent articles such as diapers, training pants, feminine hygiene products, bandages and the like.
