A tuning door is fabricated for a resonant cavity of a high frequency apparatus. Contact fingers are formed around the edge of a conductive plate. The plate is then fixed to a support by, for example, double sided adhesive tape. The conductive plate is part of the interior surface of the resonant cavity. The fingers may be formed in one operation, for example, by photoetching and are fully integral with the active surface to give optimum electrical conduction between them. Other types of high frequency apparatus may use contact fingers to provide electrical conduction between a movable wall and an adjacent conductive surface.

High frequency apparatus

In high frequency apparatus such as for example an rf resonant cavity or a waveguide, it is often necessary to include a slot to permit a probe or other member to be located in the high frequency region and be moveable along the slot. Sealing means arranged adjacent to the slot and around the probe permits movement of the probe whilst minimising the open aperture area of the slot, hence preventing or reducing leakage through it. In one embodiment of the invention, the sealing means comprises a metallic mesh and in another it includes an elastomer material which is loaded with metallic material and/or carries a metallic mesh.

An electron beam tube arrangement has an output cavity resonator circuit which includes a first output cavity, a second output cavity being coupled thereto by means of a coupling loop. The coupling loop is located in the first cavity and connected to said second cavity. In one embodiment of the invention, the second cavity also contains a coupling loop which is electrically connected to that in the first output cavity.
