A method, data presenting device and computer program product are provided for assisting a remote user. The data presenting device includes a communication interface, a camera having a field of view in which images are captured, a projector having a presentation area in which presentation items may be presented, and a control unit which receives field of view control commands a command to project a presentation item in the presentation area, controls the field of view of the camera and controls the projector to project the presentation item in the presentation area, wherein the control of the projection in the presentation area is made independently of the control of the field of view.

A method, computer program product and video communication device are provided for transmitting video to a remote user. The video communication device includes a communication interface for providing a communication session with a device of the remote user, a camera capturing images, and a control unit configured to obtain a three-dimensional model of the location, control the camera to capture video images of the location, determine a current orientation of the video communication device, and transfer the three-dimensional model and orientation to the device of the remote user together with a video stream from the camera comprising the captured video images.

Embodiments described herein may help to provide a lock-screen for a computing device. An example method involves, while a computing device is in a locked mode, the computing device: (a) analyzing head-pose data to determine whether a head pose associated with the computing device matches a predetermined head pose, (b) analyzing touchpad data associated with the computing device to detect a predetermined sequence of touch gestures, (c) if both (i) the head pose matches the predetermined head pose and (ii) the predetermined sequence of touch gestures is detected, then the computing device switching to an unlocked mode, and (d) otherwise, refraining from causing computing device switch to the unlocked mode.

A facility for determining the 3-dimensional location and orientation of a subject surface in a distinguished perspective image of the subject surface is described. The subject surface has innate visual features, a subset of which are selected. The facility uses the location of the selected visual features in a perspective image of the subject surface that precedes the distinguished perspective image in time to identify search zones in the distinguished perspective image. The facility searches the identified search zones for the selected visual features to determine the 2-dimensional locations at which the selected visual features occur. Based on the determined 2-dimensional locations, the facility determines the 3-dimensional location and orientation of the subject surface in the distinguished perspective image.
