Systems and methods for non-invasively measuring intracranial in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a method for estimating an intracranial pressure of a patient, including introducing a tracer into the blood of a patient, recording, using an imaging device, the traversal of the tracer through a brain of the patient as a kinetic curve, estimating a mean transit time (MTT) of the tracer through the brain of the patient based on the kinetic curve, measuring a mean arterial pressure (MAP) of the patient, calculating an intracranial pressure index as MAP−Ck/MTT, where C is a constant to scale proportional relationships based on healthy patient population characteristics, and k is a constant in pressure/time, and providing the intracranial pressure index. In various embodiments, regions of the brain unaffected by transient vascular abnormalities are identified and are used for data collection.

Systems and methods for non-invasive measurement of intracranial pressure

Systems and methods for stroke detection in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a system for detecting strokes, including a processor, a first ultrasound transmitter located on a patient's head in communication with the processor, a first ultrasound receiver located on the patient's head in communication with the processor, a memory in communication with the processor, including a stroke diagnostics application, where the stroke diagnostics application directs the processor to transmit a first ultrasound signal from the first ultrasound transmitter across a patient's brain, the brain comprising a first and second hemisphere, receive the first ultrasound signal using the first ultrasound receiver, where the ultrasound signal is affected during transit by harmonics generated by microbubbles in the blood of the patient stimulated by the first ultrasound signal, and detect that a stroke has occurred based on the harmonic effects on the first received ultrasound signal.

A system and a method transfer multiple data channels between a server and a terminal via a stream session over a network. The system and the method utilize a bitstream switching, a fast buffer filling and/or a fast playback start to facilitate a switch from a first data channel and a second data channel. The first data channel and/or the second data channel is delivered to and/or is transferred to the terminal from the server over the network via a streaming session. The server transfers second data of the second data channel to the terminal via one or more tracks which are encoded at more than one bitrate and/or are configured in one or more configurations. The terminal requests a change between the first track and/or the second track without terminating the stream session for the first data channel between the terminal and the server. As a result, the system and/or the method minimizes the delay period of time between requesting the switch to the second data channel and displaying the second data channel.

System and method for transferring multiple data channels

A method and device for producing and delivering constant quality digital video bitstreams over channels of any bit-rate and variability are provided. The method and device may be applicable to any standardized video coding system, but preferably within the MPEG-4 standard. For constant capacity networks, the method and the device re-distribute the coded bits in a constant-quality variable bit-rate bitstream to construct a constant bit-rate bitstream. For variable capacity networks, the method and the device achieve constant quality as described by a metric that incorporate both spatial and temporal visual quality. The method and the device incorporate user, network, and channel parameters in controlling the bit-rate while encoding video material.

Method and a device for transmission of a variable bit-rate compressed video bitstream over constant and variable capacity networks

A method and apparatus automatically manipulates a digitally compressed video bitstream such that the result is compatible with different bandwidth and error resilience requirements at a receiving point in a heterogeneous communication network. The method and device provide for analysis of bitstream header information to determine its relevant coding syntax parameters. Feedback from the receiving point on the network is then used to identify error robustness requirements for an intermediate bitstream. The bitstream is then manipulated by an error robustness regulator to achieve error protection in the network. The bitrate requirements of the network establish a selection of relevant and irrelevant bits from the bitstream The present method and device include identification of irrelevant and low priority video bits; intentional introduction of packet losses to reduce bitrate while maintaining visual quality; use of replacement tags for irrelevant and low priority components of the bitstream for compatible decoding by a wide array of decoders; and insertion of resynchronization tags and translation of predictively coded video packet bits for the improvement of error resilience.
