In some embodiments, an electric field generator generates an electric field at a nominal frequency. A detector measures, at multiple time points during a measuring period, one or more properties of the generated electric field. In various embodiments, the one or more properties of the electric field change over time due to interactions with a human body in a reactive near-field region of the electric field. From the measured one or more properties, a computation unit determines one or more periodic behaviors (such as a respiration or heartbeat) and one or more non-periodic behaviors (such as movement of a limb). The computation unit also computes, from at least one of the periodic and non-periodic behaviors, one or more physiological parameters of the human body. From the one or more physiological parameters, the computation unit detects one or more symptoms of a condition of the human body.

Computation of parameters of a body using an electric field

In some embodiments, an electric field generator includes a differential oscillator that oscillates at a nominal frequency. The electric field generator is connected to a differential antenna that radiates an electric field. A differential detector measures a frequency of the generated electric field as the electric field interacts with a body (such as a human body) in a reactive near-field region of the electric field. For each of one or more internal components of the body, a computation unit determines a respective periodic behavior in the measured frequency indicative of movement of the internal component. The computation unit also computes, for each of the one or more internal components of the body, a respective rate of movement (such as a heart rate or a respiration rate) of the internal component according to the respective periodic behavior in the measured frequency.

In some embodiments, an electric field generator generates an electric field at a nominal frequency and a nominal amplitude. The electric field generator is connected to an antenna that radiates the electric field. A detector measures a frequency and an amplitude of the generated electric field as the electric field interacts with a body (such as a human body) in a reactive near-field region of the electric field. For each of one or more internal components of the body, a computation unit determines a respective periodic behavior in the measured frequency corresponding to movement of the internal component. The computation unit also computes, for each of the one or more internal components, a respective rate of the movement of the internal component based on the determined respective periodic behavior in the measured frequency. A gain control circuit adjusts the nominal amplitude according to the measured amplitude.

A Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Management Center (DMC) coupled to a DSL network includes a data collection module that receives information regarding the DSL network from a plurality of sources. An analysis module is coupled to the data collection module to analyze the received information and issue a command for one or more of a plurality of DSL performance enhancement devices to optimize their operation. A command signal generation module is coupled to the analysis module to receive the issued command from the analysis module and generate a corresponding command signal for transmission to one or more of the DSL performance enhancement devices.

Method and apparatus for DSL performance enhancement in a DSL network

A method and apparatus in a noise cancellation system that receives a noise reference signal via a noise reference signal input port, and performs at least one of procedures a and b set forth below for reducing noise in a DSL data signal transmitted on a DSL transmission line to which the noise cancellation system is coupled: a.i.) creating a noise free representation of a DSL synchronization symbol repeatedly occurring in the transmitted DSL data signal, and a.ii.) reducing the noise in the transmitted DSL data signal based on the noise free representation of the DSL synchronization symbol and the received noise reference signal, and b.i.) analyzing at least one of the received noise reference signal and the transmitted DSL data signal to identify one or more frequency bands in which to de-emphasize noise cancellation in the transmitted DSL data signal, and b.ii.) causing the noise cancellation system to de-emphasize noise cancellation in the identified one or more frequency bands of the transmitted DSL data signal, responsive to the analysis.

DSL noise cancellation

In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided apparatus, systems and methods for detecting a boundary condition via common mode diagnostics; and to apparatus, systems and methods for detecting a fault condition via common-mode rejection ratio diagnostics. For example, in one embodiment such means include, means for injecting a common mode signal probe onto a first end of a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL line); means for measuring impedance of the common mode signal probe on the DSL line at the first end of the DSL line; means for detecting an impedance anomaly on the DSL line based on the measured impedance of the common mode signal probe; and means for correlating the impedance anomaly on the DSL line to a boundary condition on the DSL line.

Apparatus, systems and methods of common mode based diagnostics

In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided apparatus, systems and methods for detecting a boundary condition via common mode diagnostics; and to apparatus, systems and methods for detecting a fault condition via common-mode rejection ratio diagnostics. For example, in one embodiment such means include, means for injecting differential mode signal probes onto two conductors of a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL line); means for measuring a common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of the differential mode signal probes; means for measuring impedance of the differential mode signal probes; and means for identifying which of an asymmetric fault condition or a symmetric fault condition is present on the line based on both: (a) the measured CMRR of the differential mode signal probes and (b) the measured impedance of the differential mode signal probes.

Apparatus, systems and methods of common-mode rejection ratio based diagnostics

In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided apparatus, systems and methods for impulse noise detection and mitigation.
