Disclosed in some examples are systems, methods, and machine readable media which allows for hearing instruments to be in a piconet with each other while being connectable as a slave to another device such as a smart phone when it comes within range. In some examples to accomplish this, one or both of the connected hearing aids may send connectable advertisements while connected with each other in the piconet by time multiplexing the advertisements between connection events.

Ear to ear communication using wireless low energy transport

A battery-powered mobile hearing assist device allows concurrent wireless transception of control data via standard Bluetooth low energy ('BLE'), such as a smartphone, and proprietary audio streaming ('PAS') from a second device such as a wireless audio streaming accessory. Power savings are achieved particularly in situations where the hearing device is searching for the PAS device. Instead of performing PAS search events as a separate wireless activity from the BLE advertising or connection events, including waking and ramping up for each of the BLE and PAS protocols, PAS search events are combined into the BLE advertising or connection events before returning to the sleep mode in each connection interval, eliminating duplicative processor steps, ramp up and/or ramp down.

Synchronizing asynchronous dual-stack radio events for hearing device applications

A method and system can be used to read and obtain data from messaging files regardless of the messaging environment used to generate the messaging files. The method and system can read part of a messaging file to identify the type of entry (e.g., email message, calendar item, address book entry, etc.) and access information on where information within the entry is located within the messaging file based on an identifying signature. The method and system can be used to obtain data from messaging files without having to recreate the messaging environment, including individual email accounts. The data can be stored in a target storage medium in a format that is more usable and more easily searched.

System and method for data extraction from email files

Provided herein is a device for wirelessly communicating with hearing assistance devices. According to various embodiments, the device includes a first interface for communicating with a programmer and a second interface for wirelessly communicating with a hearing assistance device. The second interface is adapted to receive a plurality of communication modules. Each of the modules is adapted for communication with at least one specific type of hearing assistance device. The device includes a housing for the first interface, the second interface, and electrical connections between the interfaces. The housing adapted to be worn around the neck of a person wearing the hearing assistance device.

Wireless interface for programming hearing assistance devices

Systems and methods are provided to wirelessly communicate with a wireless communication protocol. One aspect of the present subject matter relates to a method performed by a hearing instrument for a user. According to various embodiments, local sound is converted into a processed acoustic signal for the user of the hearing instrument, and wireless communications within a wireless network that includes the hearing instrument is controlled using a wireless communications protocol. The wireless communications protocol includes a transmission protocol module, a link protocol module, an extended protocol module, a data protocol module, and an audio protocol module. The transmission protocol module is adapted to control transceiver operations to provide half duplex communication over a single wireless communication channel, and the link protocol module is adapted to implement a packet transmission process to account for frame collisions on the channel. Other aspects and embodiments are provided herein.
