A filter () includes a liquid holding vessel () with an inlet () and an outlet (). A removable filter cartridge () is positionable within the vessel. The cartridge includes a plurality of filter element assemblies () each of which includes a plurality of filter elements (). Filter elements are selectively back flushed through a back flush assembly () which includes a positionable back flush conduit arm () that rotates in response to a back flush arm shaft () that extends in a shaft support () of the filter cartridge.

Liquid filter apparatus

A sealing arrangement for sealing a quartz tube with a UV lamp therein and electrical cable extending therefrom through the lid of a pressurized fluid purification vessel. In one version, a tubular fitting, threaded on opposite ends, is received over an end of the quartz tube and threadedly engaged in an aperture in the lid and sealed with a first annular seal, a second annular seal in the tubular fitting seals about the quartz tube. A compression nut with an axial extension threadedly engages the opposite end of the tubular fitting and a strain/flexure relief is threaded into the axial extension. In a second version, the second annular seal comprises a flexible sleeve with a member having resilient radially deflectable fingers compressed thereon by a compression nut; and, duplicates of these parts employed to seal about the electrical cable.

Sealing about a quartz tube

A fluid treatment system includes plural housings (). Each housing includes quartz tubes () fixedly supported at an upper plate () while being movably supported at a lower plate (). Each tube has a UV light emitter that can eradicate microorganisms in a liquid. The tube support arrangement includes a plurality of tube retainer assemblies. Each retainer assembly includes a tube holding cup () surrounded by a coil spring (). Each cup includes an upper lip (), a lower lip (), and a foot (). The lips retain the cup in a lower plate aperture () while the foot engages the tube's domed end. A cup can hold a tube in the lower plate while constraining lateral movement of the tube, providing spring-biased axial support to the tube, and allowing axially-extending thermal expansion of the tube.

UV lamp support assembly

A fluid pressure vessel has a chamber with an inlet and outlet with a nested primary and secondary filter bag disposed such that the primary bag communicates exclusively with the inlet, and flow through the primary bag flows through the secondary bag before the outlet. The primary bag is disposed in a first rigid porous basket and the bag rim seals against a flange on the first basket. The secondary filter bag surrounds the first basket and the rim of the secondary bag is sealed around the flange of first basket. A second rigid porous basket surrounds the secondary filter bag and is sealed on the rim of the secondary filter bag and is sealed against the inner periphery of the pressure chamber by an O-ring.

Fluid filter

A flow through fluid pressure vessel of the type containing filter bags formed by a tubular shell, a one-piece cast bottom closure with an integral outlet port fitting welded to one end of the shell, a one-piece cast combination bulkhead and flange ring welded to the opposite end of the shell, a cast inlet fitting inserted through an aperture in the shell and connected to an inlet opening through the bulkhead and welded to the shell aperture. A cast closure/lid forms an inlet plenum with the bulkhead and is releasably sealed over the flange ring.

Fluid pressure vessel employing filter bags

A fluid pressure vessel has a filter cartridge with spaced headers positioning cylindrical pleated filter media. The headers form an inlet chamber communicating with the inlet upstream side of the filter media and an isolated outlet chamber communicating with the downstream side of the filter media. A hollow piston with a toothed periphery having a circumferential slot is positioned closely adjacent the upstream side of the filter media. The piston hollow communicates with a drain chamber isolated from the inlet and outlet chambers. Upon opening of the drain chamber to atmospheric pressure, the pressure in the piston hollow and slot causes a lower pressure in a localized area of the media and back flushing of trapped material on the upstream side of the media to the drain chamber. An actuator is connected to selectively progressively move the piston and slot along the entire surface of the media.

Method for making a bag filter housing

A filtering system having a housing forming a cavity with a fluid inlet and outlet remote therefrom with a partially porous basket filled with particulate or granular polymer filtering material and the basket surrounded by a bag filter. The housing inlet receives effluent from a strainer. The particulate may be filled in a monofilament polyethylene woven mesh sleeve in the form of a removable cartridge. A pump supplied fluid to be filtered through the strainer and filter housing. The system may be mounted on a wheeled cart for portability; and, in one exemplary version, includes a wastewater reservoir connected to the strainer inlet.

A cover is provided for a removable pressure vessel lid and the cover has a peripheral flange extending over the interface of the lid and pressure vessel to direct escaping pressurized fluid away from the operator in the event of a seal leak or residual pressure upon release of the lid fasteners. The fasteners such as swing bolts engage slots in the lid flange; and, flow shields are provided on the fasteners to redirect fluid escaping at the slots and about the fasteners.
