A control system of an appliance having a motor is provided. The control system includes an inverter circuit configured to provide power to the motor. The inverter circuit has a direct-current (DC) bus. The control system further includes a controller device powered by the DC bus, and a phase fired control device operatively coupled to an input of the inverter circuit. Also, the phase fired control device is configured to control a magnitude of voltage applied to the DC bus based on a phase on angle of the phase fired control device.

The regulator assembly may include inductive regulator may be positioned along a fluid supply conduit downstream from a water supply. The inductive regulator may include a regulator body, a rotor, a magnetic element, and an electrical stator. The regulator body may define an enclosed cavity extending between a regulator inlet and a regulator outlet. The rotor may be rotatably disposed within the regulator body. The magnetic element may be rotationally attached to the rotor. The electrical stator may be disposed outside of the enclosed cavity in selective magnetic communication with the magnetic element.

Methods and systems are provided for monitoring current flow in an induction motor, particularly an induction motor associated with a washing machine and for controlling operation of the motor to limit thermals during operation of the motor. The subject matter provides for periodically stopping the motor and applying a phase limited alternating (AC) voltage to the motor that is of insufficient magnitude to start the motor rotating. A current reading is taken and converted using a look up table to a corresponding temperature. If the temperature exceeds a predetermined amount, temperature fold back procedures are initiated the may include shortening and/or pausing certain washer operations.

A pressure sensor is used to determine the level of fluid present and to provide indications of the same at various levels of use of the fluid. One or more pressure sensors can also be used to detect an out of balance condition when the appliance is a washing machine.

A washing machine appliance, such as a consumer washing machine, includes a casing, and a tub disposed within the casing. A wash basket is received within the tub and is configured for receipt of articles to be washed. A diffuser plate defines a continuous bottom of the wash basket and includes a plurality of passages defined therethrough. An impeller system is operably configured within the tub below the diffuser plate and includes at least one impeller that is rotationally driven during a wash cycle to direct high velocity wash water through the passages with sufficient energy to move and wash articles within the wash basket.

Water fill level detection techniques are provided for a dishwasher system. A dishwasher system includes a tub; a fluid circulation system for circulating water in the tub and a controller. The fluid circulation system includes at least one motor and at least one fill valve. The controller monitors a current drawn by the motor to control an operation of the fill valve. The controller performs a frequency analysis on the current to detect a water fill level in the tub.
