There is provided a mechanism for use in a can opener comprising a body; rotationally mounting to the body about a first axis, a drive wheel for engaging the rim of the can; rotationally mounting to the body about a second axis and drivably rotatable by the drive wheel, a cutter wheel; eccentrically mounting to the cutter wheel, a cutting knife movable on rotation of the cutter wheel to a cutting position in which the cutting knife forms a nip with the drive wheel such that the cutting knife penetrates through the cylindrical wall of the can, and in which an electrical sensor can be used to reverse the position of the cutting wheel back to a start position and in which a mechanical sensor can be used in conjunction with a locking bar to advance the cutting wheel back to a start position.

A mechanism is provided for use in a can opener comprising a body; rotationally mounting to the body about a first axis a drive wheel for engaging the rim of a can; rotationally mounting to the body about a second axis and drivably rotatable by the drive wheel, a cutter wheel; eccentrically mounting to said cutter wheel, a cutting knife movable on rotation of the cutter wheel to a cutting position in which the cutter knife forms a nip with the drive wheel such that the cutting knife penetrates through the cylindrical wall of the can, to provide a cut therein as the opener orbits relatively therearound, wherein the cutting position is defined by a cutting interval corresponding to a segment of rotation of the cutter wheel in which the cutting knife is sufficiently proximal to the drive wheel to form the nip.

A hand held, one touch jar opener can be placed on a jar and activated with a momentary touch of a button. An epicyclic gear train is set to sequentially provide a grip on a jar, and on a lid, followed by development of torque needed to move the lid in a counterclockwise direction with respect to the jar. The principles embodied in the opener shown can be realized in an opener which can be manually powered, or preferably motorized and possibly highly automated. A differential geartrain provides reduction of speed and increase in torque and then provides two balanced and opposing forces through the epicyclic gear assembly having sun and planet gears. This configuration enables a wide variety of screw-on lids and jars to be automatically closed to match the correct diameters, apply a gripping force and then apply torque in an opposing direction.

Can opener

There is provided a frame assembly for a foldable cycle. The assembly has a rear frame portion including a mounting for a rear wheel; a forward frame portion, hingedly connecting to the rear frame portion such that the two are foldable towards each other; and hingedly connecting to the forward frame portion, a pivot assembly for a mounting arm including a mounting for a forward wheel. On folding of the cycle, hinged movement of the pivot assembly relative to the forward frame portion moves the mounting arm to move the forward wheel mounting relative to the forward frame portion. The rear frame portion and pivot assembly are coupled such that folding of the frame portions towards each other results in the distance between the forward frame portion and forward wheel mounting extending relative to each other.

Folding cycle

An ROV comprising a topside, a fish and an umbilical cable for connecting the topside and the fish together. The fish is adapted to be powered by an onboard battery inductively coupled to the fish. The cable is of a fine diameter to reduce drag through the water. RF transmissions carry control and return signals to and from the fish and topside. The fish has two cameras. The front facing camera is located behind a dual layer flooded dome. A pan and tilt mechanism is fitted to one of the cameras and uses a pivotable gimbal frame driven by a lead nut moving along an arcuate bolt.

Remote operated vehicles

A split cylindrical clamp encloses inner ends of grip bars of a folding handlebar to hold the grip bars in a firm, stationary, and strong riding position. A single user gesture flips a clamp lever to loosen the split cylindrical clamp allows the grip bars to be slid outward and folded to a folded position. The split cylindrical clamp is then tightened with another single gesture, flipping the clamp lever in an opposite direction, locking the grip bars in the folded position. While locked in the folded position, the grip bars are entirely immobilized.
