A system for identifying a user of a controller includes a controller having one or more sensors configured to detect interaction with the controller by the user and a transmitter configured to transmit telemetry data based on outputs of one or more of the sensors, a user profile unit configured to obtain user profile data for one or more user profiles, where each user profile corresponds to a respective user and the user profile data for a user profile comprises data indicative of one or more characteristic interactions by the user with the controller, and a user profile selection unit configured to select a user profile from the one or more user profiles in dependence upon a degree of match between one or more properties of the transmitted telemetry data and the data of each respective user profile, and configured to modify an output of the system responsive to the selection.

Apparatus, system and method of authentication

An entertainment device comprises a display generator arranged to generate for display a representation of an on-line virtual environment, that on-line virtual environment being able to host interactions between a user of the entertainment device and other users of one or more remote entertainment devices, a network communications arrangement operable to receive data representative of the actions of the other users within the on-line virtual environment and to receive data indicative of any supplementary data files interoperable with the on-line virtual environment that are associated with one or more remote entertainment devices of one or more of the other users, a data file searcher operable to search the entertainment device for any supplementary data files indicated by the received data, a data file acquisition arrangement operable to acquire, from a networked device, a copy of a supplementary data file indicated by the received data that was not found on the entertainment device, and a data file integrator operable to incorporate relevant elements of the or each supplementary data file into the representation of the on-line virtual environment.

Apparatus and method of modifying an online environment

A home agent, attached to a home network, receives, adapts and forwards messages intended for a mobile node attached to one of a plurality foreign networks. The home agent, having received a message, passes the message on to a processing unit to assess whether the message should be adapted so as to be compatible with the destination foreign network and to adapt the message accordingly. The adapted message is returned to the home agent to be encapsulated and tunnelled to a foreign agent attached to the destination foreign network. The foreign agent decapsulates the message and passes it on to the mobile node. This method has the advantage that the mobile node is able to receive messages regardless of the type of network to which it is attached.
