There are provided for scheduling a plurality Framing Slots in one or more Multi-Frames in a synchronized hierarchical Tree Mesh network, comprising: one or more Clusters, each Cluster comprises: a Single Root Access Point (AP) used as a master of the Cluster; a plurality of Relay Nodes, one or more Station Nodes (STAs), wherein the one or more Multi-Frames comprise said plurality of Framing Slots, wherein each Framing Slot comprises downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) transmissions, the method comprising the steps of: dividing said one or more Clusters to at least two Groups of Relay Nodes; allocating, respectively, Framing Slots in said Multi-Frame per each Group of Relay Nodes of said at least two Groups of Relay Nodes, so each Group of Relay Nodes is respectively related to one or more allocated Framing Slots within the Multi-Frame.

Synchronized framing scheduling methods and systems for wireless tree mesh networks

A backhaul system operative to: increase network capacity, prevent unwanted re-transmissions, and facilitate multiple hopes. The system utilizes a first sequence and a second sequence of periods in conjunction with wireless packet transmission by several adjacent nodes, thereby (i) preventing a transmission of a downlink packet to a mid-point communication node from interfering with reception of any previous downlink packet in a node adjacent to the mid-point node, (ii) preventing a transmission of an uplink packet to the mid-point node from interfering with reception of any previous uplink packet in yet another node that is also adjacent to the mid-point node, and (iii) preventing transmissions of packets by the mid-point node from interfering with reception of any other packet in the mid-point node. Multiple beams are then used to counter a residual effect of multiple transmissions arriving in the mid-point node at the same time.

Synchronizing communication in a backhaul network

There are provided methods and systems for scheduling downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) transmissions in one or more Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) IEEE 802.11 orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) based wireless communication networks, each network comprising one or more IEEE 802.11 OFDMA based Access Points (APs) wherein each AP of said one or more APs comprises associate one or more IEEE 802.11 OFDMA stations (STAs), the method comprising the steps of: synchronizing the one or more STAs within each network using one or more synchronization signals transmitted between the one or more APs and the one or more STAs; allocating one or more Framing Slots, wherein each Framing Slot having a fixed time duration; dividing each Framing Slot of said one or more Framing Slots into DL burst transmission and UL burst transmission periods wherein the DL burst transmission periods comprise one or more DL Data Units Bursts and continuously scheduling by said one or more IEEE 802.11 OFDMA based APs the one or more DL Data Units Bursts during said DL transmission period to said one or more STAs; and continuously sending said one or more UL Data Unit Bursts by said one or more STAs to said respective one or more APs.

Wireless communications network base station extension

A method for carrying out a handover procedure, following which a mobile terminal (MS) currently in communication with a first base station (BS), will communicate via a second BS. The method includes upon initiating a handover procedure, determining that the MS will receive all future Internet Protocol (IP) packets via the second base station, following this determination and prior to establishing a connection between the MS and the second BS, forwarding all IP packets being addressed to the MS to the second BS, and buffering the received IP packets thereat, and upon establishing a connection between the MS and the second BS, forwarding the IP packets that were buffered at the second BS to the MS, wherein the buffered IP packets are delivered to the MS before delivering any packets addressed thereto along a new path extending to the second BS which does not include the first BS.

Transfer of communication sessions between base stations in wireless networks

A Relay Station (RS) is provided. The RS is adapted to operate in a TDD type of wireless communication network which comprises at least one base station (BS) operative to communicate with the RS and with an IP network, and a plurality of Mobile Subscribers (MSs). The RS comprises: a subscriber terminal operative in conformity with IEEE 802.16e Standard; and a BS operative in conformity with said IEEE 802.16e Standard, and wherein that subscriber terminal and that BS that belong to the RS are connected to each other, and wherein all communications transmitted from the at least one BS to the RS are in conformity with the IEEE 802.16e Standard.

Apparatus and system for using relay station in a TDD wireless network

In a wireless network which comprises a first plurality of base stations and a second plurality of access network gateways, there is provided a method for tracking and/or paging a mobile terminal, wherein the method comprises the steps of: providing a mobile terminal located within the wireless network, and wherein the mobile terminal is in an active mode; selecting a first access network gateway out of the second plurality of access network gateways to be an anchor gateway for location and/or paging control for the mobile terminal; and upon receiving at the first access network gateway a request for a location update of the mobile terminal which has meanwhile entered an idle mode, selecting a base station for communicating with the mobile terminal from among the first plurality of base stations, and providing the selected base station with information required for verifying the identity of the mobile terminal and/or for retaining the security integrity of the selected base station while carrying out location update of the mobile terminal. Preferably, the paging Controller ID (or its location) is used for the update of the traffic anchored GW, and can then be used for allocating the paging controller by the traffic anchored GW during the paging procedure.

Method of paging a mobile terminal

A method and devices are provided to enable continuing a communication session currently carried by a mobile subscriber station (MSS) while switching from a first base station to a second base station. During the communication session that is being held with the MSS, a first Internet Protocol (IP) datagram is selected from among a plurality of IP datagrams associated with that communication session and received at a network gateway adapted to convey IP traffic received from the MSS. Following that selection and prior to establishing a connection between the mobile subscriber terminal and the second base station, IP datagrams that will be received at that network gateway after that first IP datagram had been received and which are addressed to the MSS, are backed up. Upon establishing a connection between the MSS and the second base station, the IP datagrams that were backed up are forwarded to the MSS, and all further IP datagrams which are addressed to the MSS and received at that network gateway after establishing the connection between the MSS and the second base station, will be forwarded to the MSS through the second base station.

A method for re-connecting a mobile terminal roaming in a wireless network via a target base station (TBS) after the occurrence of an uncontrolled disconnection of the mobile from a serving base station (SBS) via which the mobile was receiving and transmitting communications prior to the uncontrolled disconnection. An entity is established associated with the wireless network operative as a single authentication access entity (SAE) for the mobile, as long as its location remains within that wireless network, the identity of which is sent to the SBS. Following the occurrence of uncontrolled disconnection and in response to the mobile sending an indication to the TBS, the TBS is requested to execute the entry of the mobile as a handover process. The SBS transmits the identity of the SAE to the TBS. At the TBS, parameters associated with the mobile are retrieved from the SAE.

Method for reconnecting a mobile terminal in a wireless network

A method for authenticating a mobile terminal in a wireless network is disclosed. The method includes transmitting a request for authenticating the mobile terminal in that wireless network operative to provide services at a location where the mobile terminal is currently present, receiving the request at a base station associated with that wireless network, and determining an entity associated with the wireless network to be operative as a single authentication access entity for that mobile terminal, as long as the mobile terminal location remains within that wireless network and traffic is directed through any location associated with that wireless network.
