A method and system for recreating a two-dimensional distribution of temperatures in an exhaust plane of a gas turbine engine. Light transmission and detection pairs may be arranged in the annulus of the exhaust of the turbine engine in such a way that the individual rays form a two-dimensional mesh of beams across a sector of the exhaust. Based on the absorption of the rays, the temperature of the sector of the exhaust thru which the ray passes may be determined. Based on these determinations, an image that corresponds to the operation of the turbine engine may be generated.

Gas turbine optical imaging system

A method for calibrating a multiple-triad triaxial accelerometer is provided. The method may include receiving accelerometer measured output from a first measurement triad and at least one additional measurement triad of the accelerometer. The method may further include aligning the output of a x, y, and z components of the first measurement triad to be substantially orthogonal with respect to each other, aligning the output of x, y, and z components of at least one additional measurement triad to be substantially orthogonal with respect to each other, and rotating the output of at least one measurement triad so the outputs of all measurement triads substantially align with each other. The method may further include storing the result of the alignment and rotation associated with at least one calibration function associated with the multiple-triad triaxial accelerometer. The alignment and rotation may be performed substantially simultaneously.

A particle reduction apparatus comprises a radiation absorption zone for receiving a gaseous flow carrying particulate matter. A transparent shield surrounds at least a portion of the radiation absorption zone. A radiation source for generating radiation and for directing the radiation into the radiation absorption zone to promote reduction of the particulate matter is provided, and an insulation layer at least partially surrounds the radiation source.

A method for calibrating a sensor includes providing a fixture that defines a first coordinate system, providing a chassis, and orienting a plurality of sensor elements to form a misaligned coordinate system, wherein the misaligned coordinate system axes are oriented at other than right angles with respect to each other. The method also includes coupling the sensor to be calibrated to the fixture and mathematically compensating the misaligned coordinate system to correspond with the first coordinate system.

Method and system for calibrating triaxial acceleration sensors

Determination of steam quality by passing one or more laser beams through steam in a steam chamber and directly determining a total number of vapor molecules and a total number of water molecules based on absorption of radiation in the one or more laser beams by the water vapor phase and the liquid water phase in the steam. Specific volumes of water vapor phase and liquid water phase in the steam using the total numbers of water vapor and liquid water molecules are determined and the quality of the steam is calculated based on the specific volumes of the water vapor phase and the liquid water phase in steam. One embodiment comprises a narrow linewidth laser for measuring steam quality and another embodiment comprises multiple broadband lasers for measuring steam quality.
