A computer is programmed to instruct a vehicle to navigate to a pickup location based on a current user location received from a first device and data about a user event received from a second device.

Predictive vehicle acquisition

A seatbelt webbing includes an auxetic portion elongated along an axis. The auxetic portion includes a plurality of segments rotatably connected to each other at hinges. The hinges are spaced along the axis and are transverse to the axis. The auxetic portion includes a plurality of strands. Each strand is embedded in at least two of the hinges. When tensile force above a predetermined level is applied to the auxetic portion by a vehicle occupant, e.g., the chest of the vehicle occupant, the auxetic portion both stretches along the axis and widens transverse to the axis, i.e., has a negative Poisson ratio.

A seatbelt payout measuring device with a rewind spring having a first end connected to a center spool and a second end connected to a rewind spring housing. A dielectric material layered immediately adjacent to the rewind spring forming a first layer and an electrolytic coil with dielectric material layered on both sides forming a second layer, isolating the rewind spring from the electrolytic coil. A capacitive measuring device having a first lead connected to the first end of the rewind spring and a second lead connected to a first end of the electrolytic coil. The capacitive measuring device measuring capacitance with belt pullout.

An electric machine may include an adjacent pair of laminations each defining pockets having permanent magnets arranged therein to form magnetic poles. The laminations may be stacked in a pole-skewed fashion to form a portion of a rotor. A stator may surround the rotor. The machine may further include a separator lamination between the adjacent pair defining cutout portions having a shape based on a superposition of shapes of the pockets to increase a reluctance of leakage paths between the permanent magnets.

An alarm system for a vehicle, such as a bicycle, includes a touch sensor electrically connected to a vehicle frame. The touch sensor outputs an alarm signal based on a proximity of a person to the vehicle frame. A communication module receives signals from a remote device. A controller is programmed to selectively enable and disable the touch sensor in response to signals received from the remote device.

Proximity-based bicycle alarm

A voltage probe holster includes a support member disposed on a base. The support member defines a plurality of apertures sized to receive a plurality of single-ended probes having coaxial leads. Each of the apertures have a conductive periphery configured to conduct electricity from one of the coaxial leads such that a common ground loop through the support member and the base is formed and that differences in ground potential are reduced.

Ground loop reduction apparatus

A method may be performed by a sensor arrangement and a controller. The method may include capturing, by the sensor arrangement, data indicative of anthropometric characteristics of an expected 3rd row passenger prior to the passenger entering a vehicle. The method may also include deploying, by a controller, a 3rd row seat and moving a 2nd row seat prior to the expected 3rd row passenger entering the vehicle to a riding position that is based on the characteristics and 2nd row passenger data. The sensor arrangement may include an optical sensor arrangement such as used in a blind-spot detection system for a vehicle.

A vehicle system includes a front row seat and at least one controller. The front row seat may be a driver seat or a front passenger seat. The at least one controller may respond to a signal, for example, a signal transmitted from a key fob or a signal indicative of movement of a rear door handle. In response to the signal, the controller may move the front row seat based on data indicative of a size of a rear passenger expected to be seated behind the front row seat before the expected rear passenger enters the vehicle. The size of the rear passenger may be determined via data from an external object sensor such as a blind spot detection optical sensor, lidar sensor or ultrasonic sensor.

Vehicle front seat adjustment based on anthropometric characteristics of a rear passenger

A vehicle computer is programmed to receive weather data from a remote server, to determine a frequency, based on the weather data, to obtain precipitation data from one or more vehicle sensors. The computer is further programmed to obtain the precipitation data, and to close one or more vehicle windows based at least in part on the precipitation data.

Electronic pedal control systems and methods for a vehicle are provided. One electronic pedal control system includes a first sensor configured to produce a first output corresponding to a user applied force and a second sensor configured to produce a second output corresponding to a release of user applied force. A controller is configured to receive the first output and the second output and to control one of a brake system, a clutch system, and a throttle system of the vehicle based on the first and second outputs, and the first and second sensors are positioned relative to one another such that an application of force to the first sensor unloads the second sensor and the removal of force from the first sensor loads the second sensor.

Systems and methods for pressure actuated pedal control

A vehicle includes a footwell object detection sensor to detect objects in the footwell. The footwell object detection sensor includes an object detection sensor and a controller. The object detection sensor outputs data indicative of a state of the footwell that includes a plurality of pedals. The controller is programmed to, in response to a difference between the data and stored data corresponding to reference states of the footwell being indicative of a presence of an object that inhibits actuation of one or more of the pedals, output a warning signal. The controller may output a pedal status of each of the pedals based on a comparison between the data and the stored data. Controller outputs can be used to confirm or invalidate pedal position signals used by other control systems in the vehicle.

At least one datum is received relating to a condition of a window in the vehicle. A determination is made to change a parameter based on the at least one datum, the parameter governing clearing the window. An instruction is provided to initiate or change operation of a vehicle component based on the change of the parameter.

Autonomous vehicle window clearing

A bicycle support mechanism includes a shaft that is connectable to a frame of a bicycle. The shaft is in the form of a hollow tube and includes a top end and a bottom end. A support arm is telescopically deployable downward from the bottom end of the shaft. A friction wheel is rotatably supported by the shaft. The friction wheel extends from the top end of the shaft such that the friction wheel and is arranged to be in frictional contact with a bicycle wheel.

Automatically deployed bicycle support

A device for controlling an adaptive cruise control system based on driver status is provided. The device comprises a controller configured to receive at least one driver status signal indicative of the driver being either a primary driver or a secondary driver and to determine whether the driver of the vehicle is the one of the primary driver and the secondary driver based on the at least one driver status signal. The controller is further configured to allow control by a primary driver over operating parameters of an ACC system and to allow the primary driver to establish a restricted mode in which a secondary driver is prevented from making certain dis-allowed changes in the operating parameters.
