A motor assembly for driving a pump or rotary device features a power plane with a circular geometry to be mounted inside a space envelope having a similar circular geometry formed on an end-plate between an inner hub portion and a peripheral portion that extends circumferentially around the space envelope of the end-plate. The power plane is a multi-layer circuit board or assembly having: a power layer with higher temperature power modules for providing power to a motor, a control layer with lower temperature control electronics modules for controlling the power provided to the motor, and a thermal barrier and printed circuit board layer between the power layer and the control layer that provides electrical connection paths between the power modules of the power plane and the control electronics modules of the control layer, and also provides insulation between the power layer and the control layer.

Motor drive unit

Technologies are generally described for pump devices that include an adaptive cutwater and impeller arrangement. The power end of the pump device can be coupled to a motor to drive an impeller. The primer plate and impeller of the pump device are removable from the pump casing such that the primer plate and impeller can be replaced or modified as desired for different applications. In some examples, the pump casing includes a primer plate that is removable from the pump casing, where the primer plate includes a discharge cutwater tongue that is specifically spaced and sized to service an impeller of a desired design. The discharge cutwater tongue and impellers in the pump device may thus be serviced for replacement parts, as well as to modify the pump device for different fluids of different fluids properties or hydraulic requirements as may be needed in different applications.

A sensing module apparatus is provided for monitoring a vibrating machine or structure, such as a pump, which include three mounting points on the apparatus for securely mounting the apparatus to the vibrating machine or structure. The three-point mount configuration provides the sensor module with a very rigid mount connection to virtually any surface condition, including flat, curved or irregular. All six degrees of freedom (X, Y, Z, theta-X, theta-Y and theta-Z) are properly constrained. The three-point mount also provides an air barrier or gap between the sensing module and the equipment surface, allowing the sensor to be mounted to higher surface temperature devices.

A pump features a bearing sleeve couples to a pump shaft, and includes a bearing sleeve surface having bores for receiving fasteners; and an adjusting nut having a central bore with central bore threads to rotationally couple to pump shaft threads, is configured to rotate in relation to the bearing sleeve and move the pump shaft axially to adjust an impeller clearance between a working side of an impeller arranged on the pump shaft and a casing of the pump, and is configured with an adjusting nut surface having openings different in number than the bores, sets of corresponding bores and openings aligning at angular adjustment intervals, e.g. every 9 or 15&#xb0;, when the adjusting nut is rotated in relation to the bearing sleeve in either direction in order to receive fasteners to couple the adjusting nut to the bearing sleeve when the adjustment of the impeller clearance is completed.

A pump features a casing assembly having a region through which high velocity fluid and solids circulate, a chamber where they do not, an aperture that allows a related-chamber to be in fluidic communication with the region, but not the circulating high velocity fluid and solids, and a corresponding aperture to allow the related-chamber to communicate with an external region outside the casing assembly; and a rupture disc received in the corresponding aperture to close the related-chamber subjects the related-chamber and the rupture disc to pressure contained within the region and to release pressure exceeding a predetermined relief pressure of the rupture disc from the related-chamber to the external region or location, and exhaust piping couple the rupture disc to provide a path for escaping vapor and solids to be directed to the external region or location where the energy can be dissipated.

Sensing module

Apparatus is provided featuring a bearing cartridge in combination with a pedestal. The bearing cartridge may be configured to be coupled to a pumping assembly combination and having a predetermined centerline. The pedestal may be configured with an axial channel to receive and support the bearing cartridge and allow the bearing cartridge to slide therein. The bearing cartridge and the pedestal are configured to couple together substantially at or above the centerline of the bearing cartridge in order to reduce center height requirements of the apparatus, where the center height is defined as the distance between the centerline of the bearing cartridge and the bottom surface of the pedestal supporting the bearing cartridge. The apparatus takes the form of a pump or pumping assembly, arrangement or combination, including a slurry-type pump or a centrifugal pump.
