An implantable medical device, including a magnet and a body encompassing the magnet, wherein the implantable medical device includes structural components in the body configured to move away from one another upon initial rotation of the magnet relative to the body when the magnet is subjected to an externally generated magnetic field, thereby limiting rotation of the magnet beyond the initial rotation.

Magnet management MRI compatibility

An external portion of an auditory prosthesis includes an external magnet that interacts with an implantable magnet to hold the external portion against the skin. Magnetic force generated by the stray field of these magnets can disturb the operation of a vibrating element of the auditory prosthesis. The technologies described herein utilize additional magnets disposed within portions of the auditory prosthesis to redirect the magnetic flux, which allows the vibrating element to be disposed more closely to the magnets, reducing the overall height profile of the prosthesis.

Disclosed herein are example configurations of implantable units of implantable medical devices such as hearing devices. An example implantable hearing device includes a housing having a posterior side and an anterior side, with the anterior side being formed such that an inner edge of the anterior side defines an aperture. The housing includes an electrical feedthrough, a transceiver, and an antenna element. The electrical feedthrough is made of one or more biocompatible materials, and at least a portion of the electrical feedthrough is positioned beneath the aperture. The transceiver is configured to conduct RF communications. Further, the antenna element is electrically connected to the transceiver and is positioned below, above, or inside the electrical feedthrough.

Embodiments of the present invention relate to an implantable device housing assembly, for use in, for example, implantable prosthetic devices. In one aspect, the present invention provides a housing for an implantable device comprising a body portion and a sealing flange. The body portion includes a cavity in which electronic components are disposed on an open side thereof, and at least one feed-through which provides electrical connections between the electronic components and the exterior of the device. The feed-through includes interior and exterior connection points, which are accessible during assembly of the device from a first side of the device. The sealing flange operatively seals the cavity so as to form a sealed housing. A method of forming a sealed housing for an implantable device is also provided.

The implantable medical device including a hermetic enclosure including at least one feedthrough having at least one electrically conductive path through the feedthrough.
