A system for managing vehicular traffic on a roadway includes a sensing unit positioned within a vehicle traveling on the roadway. The sensing unit is configured to determine occupancy data based on the number of passengers within the vehicle. An ambient light sensor is operatively associated with the sensing unit such that upon sensing an intensity of ambient light, an adjustment is made to the system to aid in the determination of occupancy data. The occupancy data is configured to be communicated to one or more receiving units positioned above or proximate the roadway.

Managing vehicular traffic on a roadway

A novel system and method of integrating an RF emissions device, such as a radar system (A), within a traffic control indicator () system. The system and method determines, using LFM-CW radar signals () and a multi-stage spectral processing algorithm (), if one or more object/vehicle targets will enter an intersection and comprises receiving a radar echo response () indicating the object/vehicle target () is approaching the intersection, receiving range and velocity of the object/vehicle targets (), and based on the receiving, determining if the object/vehicle target () will enter the intersection. The system and method can programmatically be configured to activate red-light-hold, green-light-extension, or left-turn-warning.

Traffic light signal system using radar-based target detection and tracking

A system for extending the operation of a local communications port of a client computer includes a central server, a client communication module, and a remote communication device, each connected to a communication network. A method of operating a central server in a communications network begins with establishing a first communication link between the central server and a remote communication device in response to a request from the remote communication device. A second communication link is established between the central server and a client communication module in response to a request from the client communication module. Application data is received from the client communication module via the second communication link and forwarded, via the first communication link, to the remote communication device. Remote equipment data is received from the remote communication device via the first communication link and forwarded, via the second communication link, to the client communication module.

Method and system for extending a communication port via a general purpose network

A GaAs monolithic true logarithmic amplifier which includes at least one amplifier stage common to the two arms of the circuit, the two arms being independent thereafter, one having lower gain and higher compression point and the other arm having higher gain and lower compression point. The signals in the arms are then recombined off-chip to provide the same effect as in the prior art. The circuit includes an input stage which amplifies and gain shapes the input signal and then splits the signal into upper and lower paths. The upper path is a relatively lower gain and higher compression point path whereas the lower path is a relatively higher gain and lower compression point path. The upper path includes a FET with a very large gate width whereas the lower path includes plural cascaded FETs, the last of which has a very small gate width. The upper and lower paths both have an odd or an even number of FETs to maintain the phase relation therebetween, the upper path further including transmission line stubs or elements which act as a delay line to compensate for the delay in the lower path due to the larger number of FETs therein. The outputs of the upper and lower paths are combined in a resistive combiner to provide the amplified signal. The output of this circuit is linear at low power and then demonstrates a knee therein at higher input power to resemble the curve of a logarithmic amplifier.

GaAs monolithic true logarithmic amplifier

A push-push broadband dielectric resonator oscillator circuit that operates in the K and Ka band frequency range has two oscillator circuits that oscillate at the same fundamental frequency. An antiphaseal relationship is maintained between the two oscillators through the use of a dielectric resonator and the desired frequency is obtained by vectorially combining the output signals of the two oscillators that have the antiphase relationship to obtain an output frequency that is twice the fundamental frequency of operation of each of the individual dielectric resonator oscillator circuits.
