An ammunition article including a polymer cartridge case with a mouth at a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a propellant chamber located between the first end and the second end. A projectile can be fitted into the mouth and a metal base insert can be joined at the second end. The metal base insert can include a primer. The metal base insert and the polymer cartridge case remain joined together as a single piece assembly upon loading, firing and removal from a chamber of a firearm for a polymer case temperature between about −65° F. (−54° C.) to about 165° F. (74° C.).

A polyetherimide composition includes a polyetherimide and two or more of a residual metal content, a sulfate anion, a phosphate anion, a nitrite anion, a nitrate anion, or a combination including at least one of the foregoing, a residual solvent content, a phosphorus-containing stabilizer, and alkali metal halide, alkaline earth metal halide, alkali metal carbonate, or a combination including at least one of the foregoing, wherein each of the aforementioned components, when present, is included in the composition in a particular amount. The resulting polyetherimide composition exhibits two or more useful properties. The polyetherimide composition can optionally further be combined with a polymer different from the polyetherimide to provide a thermoplastic composition. Methods of making the polyetherimide composition and articles including the polyetherimide composition are also described.

A uniaxially-stretched, high yield extruded capacitor film comprising a miscible polymer blend comprising a polyetherimide and a polyester, wherein the polyetherimide comprises units derived from polymerization of an aromatic dianhydride with a diamine comprising a m-phenylenediamine, a p-phenylenediamine, or combinations thereof, wherein the polyetherimide is endcapped with a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic primary monoamine, wherein the polyester comprises repeating structural units derived from polymerization of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid with a dihydroxy compound, and wherein the high yield extruded capacitor film comprises equal to or greater than about 90 wt. % of the miscible polymer blend entering an extruder used for manufacturing the capacitor film, based on the total weight of miscible polymer blend prior to entering the extruder.

Polyetherimide miscible polymer blends for capacitor films

Described herein is a composition comprising a polymer blend. The polymer blend comprises 92 to 99 weight percent of a polyphenylene ether sulfone and 1 to 8 weight percent of a polyalkylene terephthalate, wherein weight percent is based on the combined weight of the polyphenylene ether sulfone and polyalkylene terephthalate. The polymer blend has a transmittance greater than or equal to 60% and a haze less than or equal to 10% at a thickness of 3.2 millimeters, as determined according to ASTM D1003.

A polyetherimide film comprising a fluoropolymer and an extruded polyetherimide comprising units derived from polymerization of an aromatic dianhydride with a diamine selected from a meta-phenylene diamine, a para-phenylene diamine, and a combination thereof, wherein the polyetherimide is endcapped with an a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic primary monoamine; and wherein the polyetherimide film comprises at least 90 weight % of the polyetherimide before extrusion.

Polycarbonate films for capacitors, methods of manufacture, and articles manufactured therefrom

Blends of a polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU); a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS); and, a polyetherimide and epoxy. The polyetherimide and epoxy are present in an amount effective to act as a compatibilizer for the polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). Methods of compatibilizing a blend of polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). The method can include melt mixing a polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) and a polyetherimide; and melt mixing a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and an epoxy.

A thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a combination of: 40 to 60 pbw, of a polyetherimides, polyetherimide sulfones, or combination thereof having a weight average molecular weight from 5,000 to 80,000 Daltons; 40 to 60 pbw of a polyethylene terephthalate, the polyethylene terephthalate having a diethylene glycol content from 0.1 to 4 wt %, based on the weight of the polyethylene terephthalate, an intrinsic viscosity that is more than 0 and less than 0.83 dl/g, and carboxylic acid end groups in an amount from 10 to 150 meq/Kg; from 0 pbw to 1 pbw, based on 100 pbw of the polymer composition of a stabilizer selected from phenol-containing stabilizers, phosphorus-containing stabilizers, or a combination thereof; and, based on the weight of the polyethylene terephthalate, 10 to 300 antimony; 0 to 300 ppm of cobalt; and 0 to 300 ppm of titanium; wherein the polymer composition is bisphenol A free.

Transparent polyimide-polyester compositions, method of manufacture, and articles thereof

A sterilized article comprising a hydrogen peroxide plasma or hydrogen peroxide vapor sterilized polymer composition, the polymer composition comprising from 20 to 80 weight % of a polyphenylene ether sulfone; and from 20 to 80 weight % of a polyetherimide. When sterilized with a hydrogen peroxide plasma, or hydrogen peroxide vapor, the articles have surprisingly improved resistance to changes in color and clarity as well as resistance to loss of mechanical properties.

Sterilized polyetherimide/polyphenylene ether sulfone articles

A sterilized article comprising a sterilized or hydrogen peroxide vapor-sterilized polymer composition, the polymer composition comprising a polyetherimide, wherein after exposure to 100 cycles of the hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilization using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide vapor and hydrogen peroxide plasma for 30 minutes at 20 to 55&#xb0; C., the color of the polymer composition of the article exhibits a color shift of delta E of 10 units or less relative to the color of the polymer composition color before the first hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilization cycle, wherein delta E is measured in accordance with ASTM D2244.

Sterilized polyetherimide articles

The present disclosure relates to a composition with improved flame resistance, to articles made from the composition, and to methods that include processing the composition. The composition can include from 15 to 85 percent by weight of a polyetherimide (PEI), from 15 to 85 percent by weight of a polyphenylsulfone (PPSU), a polyetherimide-siloxane copolymer in an amount up to 12 percent by weight, and from 0 to 0.30 percent by weight of a stabilizer.

Polyimide polyphenylsulfone blends with improved flame resistance

Compositions made from a polyarylate or polyester carbonate containing greater than about 50 mole % resorcinol based ester linkages give miscible blends with polyimide resins, addition of alkyl amide compounds improves mold release and melt flow while maintaining transparency. The blends also have high refractive index and low haze.
