A thermal management system includes an air handling unit (AHU) configured to receive outside air (OA) from an OA intake, and water from a water source, where the AHU is configured to direct conditioned air toward a cold aisle and the AHU includes a modular adiabatic layer containing an evaporative media, and the modular adiabatic layer includes a plurality of subregions configured to be wetted by the evaporative media independently of one another.

Systems and methods for cooling datacenters

Examples described in this disclosure relate to waste cold recuperation in fuel cell based power generation systems for datacenters. An example waste cold recuperation system includes a liquefied gas storage for supplying liquefied gas as a coolant to cool a first set of compute resources configurable to operate in a first cryogenic environment. The system is configurable to supply at least some of the vapor phase of the liquefied gas as a coolant to cool a second set of compute resources configurable to operate in a second cryogenic environment, resulting in the at least some of the vapor phase of the liquefied gas becoming a super-heated vapor phase of the liquefied gas. The system is configurable to supply the super-heated vapor phase of the liquefied gas as fuel to fuel cells for providing electrical power to a datacenter load including compute resources configurable to operate in a non-cryogenic environment.

Waste cold recuperation in fuel cell based power generation systems for datacenters

A power controller allocates input power to a datacenter between computing power for computing services, backup power, and overhead power for overhead systems. The power controller reallocates the overhead power and/or the backup power to the computing power. This may increase the overall utilization of the datacenter by allowing additional processing power of the servers to be used.

A carbon capture system includes two carbon capture plates. A first carbon capture plate collects carbon dioxide from a flow of ambient air. A second carbon capture plate releases carbon dioxide upon application of heat from a heat exchanger. The heat is exhaust heat from a data center. The first carbon capture plate and the second carbon capture plate are rotatable between the capture and release positions. The carbon capture system uses the waste heat from a data center to collect and store atmospheric carbon dioxide, thereby reducing the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Cooling a first device and second device in a fashion to produce water. The method includes collecting environmental air from an environment. The environmental air is used to cool a first device. Cooling the first device generates first device exhaust air produced from the environmental air. The first device exhaust air is provided to a first device portion of a heat exchanger. At a second device portion of the heat exchanger, thermally coupled to the first device portion of the heat exchanger, second device exhaust air generated by cooling a second device is received. At the heat exchanger, the first device exhaust air is used to cool the second device exhaust air to a dew point, causing condensed water to be created from the second device exhaust air. The condensed water is collected.

Superconducting computing system housed in a liquid hydrogen environment and related aspects are described. An example superconducting computing system includes a housing, arranged inside a liquid hydrogen environment, where a lower pressure is maintained inside the housing than a pressure outside the housing. The superconducting computing system further includes a substrate, arranged inside the housing, having a surface, where a plurality of components attached to the surface is configured to provide at least one of a computing or a storage functionality, and the substrate further comprises a plurality of circuit traces for interconnecting at least a subset of the plurality of the components. The housing is configured such that each of the plurality of components is configured to operate at a first temperature, where the first temperature is below 4.2 Kelvin, despite the liquid hydrogen environment having a second temperature greater than 4.2 Kelvin.
